Top 2019 March Madness Sleepers

#10 LSU Tigers

  • 2019 College Basketball Championship Odds: +4000

It’s amazing how LSU is still at +4000 to win the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers are on a 3-game win streak heading into their final 2 regular season battles. LSU won 2 of their last 3 games without their best player, Tremont Waters. That includes beating Tennessee 82-80 in overtime on Feb. 23 with Waters out due to an illness.

#12 Houston Cougars

  • 2019 College Basketball Championship Odds: +4000

Losing to UCF at home as a -7 favorite might throw up some red flags. More likely, it will just inflate the Cougars’ odds of winning it all. Houston was due for a letdown after winning 12 straight. The Cougars remain a sleeper pick because like LSU, their odds are ridiculously high to win it all.

#13 Florida State Seminoles

  • 2019 College Basketball Championship Odds: +5000

Virginia Tech’s getting more press because they beat Duke last week, but Florida State qualifies as the better sleeper pick heading into the NCAA Tournament. The Seminoles are on a 3-game win streak since North Carolina beat them on Feb. 23. Before losing to UNC, the Seminoles had won 8 in a row, including beating Syracuse, Louisville, and Clemson twice.

Top 2019 March Madness Cinderellas

#19 Cincinnati Bearcats

  • 2019 College Basketball Championship Odds: +10000

Those are massive odds on a historically successful NCAA Tournament team. Cincinnati almost always plays well in the Big Dance. Houston beat the Bearcats by 7 on Feb.10 in a 58-65 loss, but other than that, they’ve been great. Cincinnati is 13-1 straight up in their last 14 games.

#20 Buffalo Bulls

  • 2019 College Basketball Championship Odds: +6600

Buffalo should take the MAC Tournament and stamp their ticket to the NCAA Tournament. The Bulls have an excellent 27-3 record heading into their final regular season game versus rival Bowling Green. They’re 10-1 straight up in their last 11, and have won 8 in a row.

#22 Wofford Terriers

  • 2019 College Basketball Championship Odds: +10000

Like Buffalo, Wofford should win their conference tournament and stamp their ticket to the NCAA Tournament. Wofford has 4 losses on the season, but look who they lost to: North Carolina, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Mississippi State. They’re undefeated in Southern Conference play and average a ridiculous 83 points per game from 48.9% shooting from the field and 41.8% shooting from three.

Top 2019 March Madness Bracket-Busters

All Bracket-Buster teams must win their conference tournaments to ensure a spot in the NCAA Tournament.

Vermont Catamounts

American East leading Vermont shoots 45.4% from the field on their way to averaging 73.9 points per. They hold opponents to 63.7 points per. If they win the American East Tournament, they’ll be a real Bracket-Buster in the Big Dance.

VCU Rams

VCU shoots 44.3% from the field. They hold their opponents to 38.2% from the field and 27.2% from three. VCU must beat Davidson and win the Atlantic 10 Tournament to ensure a spot in the NCAA Tournament. That won’t be easy, but it should happen.

Old Dominion Monarchs

Conference USA regular season winner Old Dominion should have no trouble winning their tournament. If they lose, like VCU, they might get shut out of the Big Dance. It’s hard to see that happening, though, because they’ve got a 23-6 record while everyone else in Conference USA has double-digit losses.
