Baylor At Ole Miss Odds, Free Pick & TV Info

Written by on January 27, 2017

This weekend sees a little break in conference play, as we get a number of games that pit non-conference rivals against one another. Think of it as a little preview of the madness to come in March, as some of the games on tap pit the best in the big 6 conferences against one another. The Baylor Bears are leading the way in the Big-12 with a 19-1 record, and they take a little break from their conference to head to Oxford to take on the Ole Miss Rebels of the SEC. Things are not going quite so well for the Rebels in their conference, but this is still a team with a winning record that could potentially pose a problem for the #5 ranked Bears. These types of games are often dangerous for the higher ranked teams, coming as they do amid the craziness of conference play. It’s easy to have a bit of a letdown, and the Bears are going to have to steer clear of that to get out with the win on Saturday. Find the latest NCAA basketball betting lines here.

Why bet on the Baylor Bears

All of the stats pertaining to the Bears have been very much in the positive this season, starting with that impressive 19-1 record. While their lone loss came on the road, it came against a West Virginia Mountaineers team that was ranked #10 at the time, so not exactly what you would call a bad loss. To this point, the Bears have played 12 non-conference, and have won them all. Since the loss to the Mountaineers, the Bears have gone on to win 4-straight, but their last game was a bit of a struggle, taking down Texas Tech 65-61 in what was a very tight struggle. If the Bears cannot win this one comfortably, they may see their stock fall a little again, so they ae going to be keen to put in a big performance.

Why bet on the Ole Miss Rebels

Before we immediately write off Ole Miss in this one, we should take a bit of a closer look at what they have done this season. The Rebels have admittedly struggled in conference play, but this is a team boasting a 9-3 record when playing non-conference foes. They are 8-4 at home, which is a decent record, but they do have one strike against them heading into this game, and that is that they are 0-3 in games versus ranked opponents. Worse still, they have not been particularly competitive in those games, which could be an issue coming into their meeting with the high-flying Bears.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

While this has the potential to be a trip up game for a Baylor team that is coming off a poor performance, my feeling is that this will go the opposite way, and that they will win quite comfortably.
