Betting Darkhorses To Win March Madness

Written by on March 8, 2016

Every year in the NCAA tournament, there are a bunch of college basketball betting favorites that win the games they are supposed to, but the real story is the dark horses that win in March Madness. Let’s take a look at a few teams that will be one of those dark horses to win during the 2016 March Madness!

Betting Darkhorses To Win March Madness

Texas A&M

The first team on the list is the Aggies of Texas A+M. Wow! The Aggies have had a great season, and no one is talking about them. The co-champions out of the SEC; have won their last six games. The Aggies are 24-7, and coming off a win at home over Vanderbilt. The Aggies can really score, and have been fairly battled tested this season. They are a betting dark horse to win March Madness, because as of Championship Week, the Texas A&M Aggies were listed at +60/1.

Purdue

The Purdue Boilermakers could be a team worth watching during March Madness. Purdue is so frustrating, because they have a loss against Illinois, who was woeful this season. The Boilermakers finished in a tie for third in the Big 10 standings with several teams. The Boilermakers are one of the tallest teams in the nation, and they are working on their toughness. Purdue has the ability to win four games in the tournament. You can currently get the Purdue Boilermakers at +45/1.

VCU

The VCU have always had the knack of being a team that’s tough to beat in the postseason. While it is no longer Shaka Smart’s Rams, they are still a very dangerous team. The Rams finished in a three way tie for the Atlantic 10 Conference regular season title. The Rams are 22-9 overall, coming off an overtime loss at Dayton. Look for the Rams to be overlooked when March Madness starts. You can grab them at a great value right now +300/1 to win March Madness.

Northern Iowa

Northern Iowa is led by head coach Ben Jacobsen. We have seen this program win big tournament games in the past. After an odd season which saw them win games against Iowa State and North Carolina, but finish fourth in a mediocre Missouri Valley Conference, the Panthers are in the tournament. They upset Wichita State and then downed Evansville in St. Louis. The Panthers, when shooting the basketball, are awfully tough to bet. You can grab Northern Iowa at +400/1, as a dark horse to win March Madness.

Gonzaga

In the same league as the Gonzaga Bulldogs, Brigham Young and Saint Mary’s should both be teams that you should not overlook. They appear to both be safe for the tournament, along with Gonzaga as well. The West Coast has seen Saint Mary’s finish 26-4, with Brigham Young at 23-9. We will add Gonzaga to this list, and make it a West Coast Conference trio. Brigham Young is listed at +300/1, Gonzaga is at 150/1 and the Gaels of Saint Mary’s can be had at +250/1 to win March Madness. There are a few dark horse picks to win the 2016 version of March Madness. Let the Madness begin! Best of luck and enjoy the tournament!
