Season Series
Only scheduled meeting. Last year, Georgia Tech was 0-2 vs. the Cavs. The one in Charlottesville finished 65-54 when Virginia was ranked No. 1. It clinched at least a share of the ACC regular-season title with the win. Ty Jerome led with 18 points. The Wahoos led just 31-30 at halftime and didn’t open a double-digit lead until just 5:14 remained. Jerome scored 15 of his points in the second half, hitting three of his four 3-pointers after the intermission. Ben Lammers scored 22 points to lead the Yellow Jackets.
Virginia is 41-40 all-time vs. Georgia Tech, including a 23-11 record in Charlottesville, in the series that dates back to 1947-48. The Cavaliers have a four-game winning streak in the series and a six-game winning streak against the Yellow Jackets in Charlottesville.
Why Bet on Georgia Tech?
The Jackets are off an 80-65 loss at Miami on Saturday. Dejan Vasiljevic scored 21 points to lead Miami. Anthony Lawrence finished with 16 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists and Ebuka Izundu scored 18 points for the Hurricanes, who have won three of their last five after a five-game losing streak. The Hurricanes never trailed and were never threatened after a 13-3 run that helped open a 17-point lead midway through the first half.
The Hurricanes made 12 of their first 19 shots from the floor in opening a 30-13 lead by the 8:09 mark of the first half. The Yellow Jackets (12-16, 4-11 ACC) limited the Hurricanes to one field goal the rest of the half, and opened the second stanza by making 10 of their first 12 shots from the floor, but 11 points (51-40 with 14:01 left in the game) was as close as they could get.
Tech shot 51.6 percent in the second half to Miami’s 43.6 and hit 5-of-10 shots from three-point range in outscoring the Hurricanes, 42-41, after intermission. Miami finished the game with nine threes and shot 46.6 percent overall. Tech continued an upward turn in its three-point shooting, connecting on 7-of-21. The Jackets have averaged 8.0 threes and shot 35.4 percent from beyond the arc in their last five games. In the five games before that, the Jackets shot 14-for-96 (14.6 pct.) from bonus range.
Only Wake Forest (74.4 ppg, scored 79), Clemson (71.4 ppg, scored 72 in the first meeting), Virginia Tech (75.6, 76 in second meeting) and Miami (72.2, scored 80) have met or exceeded their season scoring averages against Georgia Tech this season. Tech has averaged 15.4 turnovers per game in ACC play and only forced 11.9. Under Josh Pastner, when Tech has committed fewer turnovers than its opponent, it is 22-13. When it has committed more, it is 21-30 overall.

Why Bet on Virginia?
Virginia won its fourth straight game Saturday, 64-52 at Louisville – UVA’s only two losses this season are to Duke. Against the Cards, Virginia (24-2, ACC 12-2) trailed early in the second half. The Cardinals (18-10, 9-6) then turned cold while Virginia found its touch. The Cavaliers shot 59 percent after halftime and used a 12-1 run over 4:36 for a 55-48 lead they stretched to 12.
Louisville made 10 of 16 from behind the arc in the first half before cooling off. The Cardinals were just 2 of 17 the rest of the way. UVA outscored Louisville 38-4 in the paint and owned a 26-15 advantage in bench points. UVA extended its school record for top-25 road wins to five and set a new record with its fourth ranked road win in league play (three in 1981). UVA is 9-1 in true road games.
On an afternoon when junior guards Kyle Guy and Ty Jerome, two of the nation’s premier outside shooters, were a combined 0 for 11 from long range, the Cavaliers were undeterred. DeAndre Hunter had a career-high 26 points, including 19 in the second half. The 26-point effort marked the ninth career 20-point game for Hunter. Guy’s 25-game 3-point streak ended but he matched a career high with eight rebounds.
