Gonzaga At BYU Betting Prediction, Pick & TV Info

Written by on February 1, 2017

The WCC is not a conference that generally gets a ton of attention in college basketball point spreads, but you can’t help but notice it this season. When the updated rankings were released earlier this week, it was the Gonzaga Bulldogs who had taken over the top spot in the nation. They took advantage of what was a weird turn of events last week, where several of the teams in the top 10 took losses that no-one really saw coming. The Bulldogs remain the only unbeaten team this season, and they haven’t really had to break too much of a sweat in order to continue rolling, but that might change on Thursday night when they have to head to Utah to face the BYU Cougars. The home team are having themselves a pretty solid season so far, and they will certainly remember that they were able to take out the Bulldogs in one of their two meetings last season. The Bulldogs will be the favorite to win this one, but it may be a tougher game than what they have been used to of late.

Why bet on the Gonzaga Bulldogs

The win streak this season for Gonzaga is at 22 and counting, and you have to say that they haven’t really been put under a whole lot of pressure for a while now. They have won their last 5 games by an average margin of over 30 PPG, and are now averaging over 85 PPG on offense. This game may well be the toughest test that they have had in quite some time, and it’s going to be interesting to see how they react against a team that has been very good in their own building. The Bulldogs are an impressive 15-4 ATS this season, which includes being 5-1 ATS on the road. They have beaten back every challenge so far, but can they do it again in a hostile environment?

Why bet on the BYU Cougars

The Cougars would love to be the team that brings the Bulldogs run to a grinding halt, and with a 12-1 SU home record in their own building, there is every chance they might just pull it off. The Cougars are 7-3 in conference play this season, and have only had one other game against a ranked opponent, with that one ending in a loss versus Saint Mary’s. It certainly looks as though the Cougars are going to have to settle for the third-place spot in the WCC, as there really appears to be no way to run down the Gaels and the Bulldogs given how they are both playing right now. BYU are just 9-11 ATS on the season, but are 6-4 ATS at home.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

The Cougars will be trying to channel the performance they put in when they beat the Bulldogs last season but I think it will all be for naught. I like the Bulldogs to keep the streak alive.
