  A No. 1 seed has won three of the last four national championships and seven of the last eight overall, so it’s a high likelihood that one of the top-ranked teams in the nation will bag this year’s championship hardware as well. Now, let’s take a look at the top 9 favorites to win the 2016 NCAA Tournament.

1. Kansas 17/2

At 17/2, the Jayhawks (27-4) are the No. 3 favorite to win it all and from where I’m sitting, I say it very well could happen, even if star forward Perry Ellis does take a back seat to the more famous fashion designer of the same name.

2. Michigan State 13/2

The second-ranked Spartans (26-5) are the No. 1 favorite on the board and rightfully so with superstar forward Denzel Valentine (19.6 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 7.4 apg) doing so much these days that he could probably replace superstar actor Denzel Washington in a hit film.

3. Villanova 14/1

The third-ranked Wildcats (27-4) are the No. 7 favorite on the board, but I’ve got my worries about my hometown’s top-ranked team, seeing as how they’ve been a top-ranked title contender several times under Jay Wright, before ultimately falling way short of their intended destination.

4. Virginia 14/1

The  fourth-ranked Cavaliers (24-6) are the No. 8 favorite to win it all and I believe they’ve got a great chance to do some damage come tourney time with a legitimate superstar in Malcolm Brogdon (18.4 ppg) and the nation’s second-ranked defense (59.6 ppg). Make no mistake about it…at 14/1 the Cavs are a fantastic team to wager on.

5. Xavier 12/1

The Musketeers (26-4) are the No. 6 favorite on the board, but they’re also one of the most difficult teams to predict, seeing as how they can beat any team in the country or lose when least expected. The Musketeers may not have a Wooden ward candidate on their roster, but they do have a whopping six players averaging 9.5 points per game or more and four player that average double digits in scoring.

6. Oklahoma 11/1

Speaking of a team that can beat anyone or lose to anyone and it’s got to be the sixth-ranked Oklahoma Sooners (24-6), the No. 5 favorite to win it all. Sure, the Sooners have a genuine superstar in Buddy Hield (25.1 ppg), but Oklahoma has also made a small habit of finding ways to lose games this season that they never should have.

8. North Carolina 8/1

The talent-laden Tar Heels (25-6) are the No. 2 favorite to win it all and it’s easy to see why when they’re firing on all cylinders. The Heels are dangerous and often look like the best team in the country, making them a pretty good pick to win it all at 8/1.

17. Duke 18/1

The 17th-ranked Blue Devils (22-9) are the No. 9 favorite to win it all but they certainly shouldn’t be. Besides, with their best player being a bit of a privileged scumbag that likes to trip opponents when they’re not looking, who wants to see Duke win it all this season?

22. Kentucky 11/1

The 22nd-ranked Wildcats (23-8) have been wildly inconsistent this season, but I guess it’s possible that John Calipari’s collection of McDonald’s All-Americans could get hot and win it all, although I must admit that I don’t see it happening.
