The Miami Hurricanes and eighth-ranked Duke Blue Devils will both be looking to get back in the win column following losses in their respective last contests when they take to the hardwood at Cameron Indoor Stadium for their ACC clash on Tuesday night. With Duke looking to take care of business at home and Miami looking for the huge upset, let’s find out which team is offering the best value against their college basketball odds in this one.

Why Bet On Miami?

The Hurricanes have dropped two straight and four of their last five and come into this matchup off a heartbreaking 83-79 overtime loss against in-state rival Florida State on Saturday. Guard Chris Lykes scored a team-high 24 points while draining six threes in the loss. DJ Vasiljevic added 19 points and Kameron McGusty chipped in with 15. Despite the loss, head coach Jim Larranaga was encouraged by his team’s effort.

“I thought our defensive effort was terrific,” Larranaga said. “I liked the way they hustled, challenged shots, challenged rebounds and pulled together as a team. I thought they did a great job of building a lead. Unfortunately, Florida State did a good job of forcing some turnovers and making some key shots down the stretch.”

Miami averages 72.5 points per game (148th) while allowing 73.2 points per contest defensively (281st). The Hurricanes have gone 4-4 SU and 3-2 ATS on the road this season.

Why Bet On Duke?

The Blue Devils should be highly focused in this matchup after dropping two straight. Duke fell on the road at Clemson 79-72 a week ago and followed that defeat up with a 79-73 home loss against  No. 10 Louisville on Saturday to suffer their first pair of consecutive losses since February of 2018. Freshman Cassius Stanley scored a career-high 24 points and 11 rebounds in the loss while fellow freshman star Vernon Carey Jr. was limited to 12 points.

“We just need to learn from this and move on,” Krzyzewski told reporters after the loss. “Next one is Tuesday at home against Miami, and we need to move forward. As much as this one hurts, we need to put this one behind us and move on.”

Duke averages a stellar 82.6 points per contest to rank seventh nationally in scoring while limiting the opposition to 64.2 points per contest defensively (66th). The Blue Devils have gone 10-2 SU and 5-5 ATS at home this season.

Miami vs Duke Expert Analysis and Prediction

I know Miami is mediocre at best this season, but still, I’m completely stunned that Duke is giving up a whopping 17.5 points in this matchup. Yes, I know the Blue devils routed the Hurricanes 95-62 in Miami on January 4 to cover the chalk as a 9.5-point road favorite, but I’m thinking nearly 18 points is a bit too much for the Blue Devils to cover this time around. Despite their pitiful 4-9 ATS mark in their last 13 road games, Miami has gone 9-3-1 ATS in their last 13 games following a straight up loss.

While Duke has gone 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games against a team with a winning straight up record and the favorite in this ACC rivalry is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings, I’m going with the Canes to narrowly cover the chalk in this one, mostly because Duke keeps getting off to notoriously slow starts this season.
