Bet on Wednesday NCAA Hoops Oklahoma vs Texas Tech

Written by on February 16, 2016

It has not been a good year to be ranked #1 in NCAA basketball, as the teams that have made it there have invariably turned around and lost pretty quickly. The Oklahoma Sooners can count themselves among that group, and they are now in a position of having to put some wins together to stop the slide. They can get things rolling again on Wednesday, February 17 when they head into United Supermarkets Arena in Lubbock to face the Texas Tech Red Raiders. The full odds for this one will be up at MyBookie.ag’s NCAAB odds page as soon as possible.

How to bet Oklahoma Sooners Vs Texas Tech Red Raiders Game and TV Info

When: Wednesday, February 17, 9 PM EST Where: United Supermarkets Arena, Lubbock, Texas TV: ESPNU
The Sooners laid a little bit of a licking on Texas Tech when they met earlier in the season, but that came at a time when they were playing much better ball. Things are not going so well in OK right now, and the Red Raiders might believe that they can take advantage of that on their own court.

Why bet on the Oklahoma Sooners

The Sooners (20-4, 8-4) lost their #1 ranking after being upset by the Kansas State Wildcats last week. They did recover nicely with a win over a ranked Texas team, but were then edged out 76-72 by Kansas. The latter loss was particularly galling, as it was the first defeat of the season at home for the Oklahoma Sooners. They are in danger of falling into a rut of they can’t string a few wins together to end the season, and you have to think that this match-up is coming at just the right time. After all, the Sooners downed Texas Tech 91-67 in their last meeting a few weeks back. Yes, that came on home court, and it also came at a time when the Sooners were rolling, but it does show just how superior they are to this opponent. The Sooners are averaging 83.6 PPG, and are giving up 71.6 PPG.

Why bet on the Texas Tech Red Raiders

Oklahoma may be looking at this game as a pretty easy win, but they would be wise to look at what Texas Tech (15-9, 5-7) have done in their last couple of games. The Red Raiders are coming off consecutive wins against ranked opponents. They started out with a gritty 85-82 OT win at home versus Iowa State, and then followed that up with an 84-66 hammering of the Baylor Bears on the road. Other than the game against the Sooners, Texas Tech have actually been pretty competitive against ranked opponents, and have generally done a nice job of keeping things close. If they can do that on Wednesday, they might just have a shot at pulling off the upset. The Red Raiders are averaging 73.2 PPG, and are giving up 69.5 PPG.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

This has the potential of being a trip-up game for an Oklahoma team that looks a little fragile right now. I don’t think they will falter, though, but I also don’t believe that they will win in the same style as they did the last time they hooked up with Texas Tech.
