Betting the Oregon State vs USC Spread

Written by on March 1, 2016

The USC Trojans will look to halt their losing ways and keep their NCAA Tournament hopes alive by handling Oregon State in their pac-12 pairing on Wednesday night. With the Beavers playing solid basketball recently, clearly USC will have its hands full in trying to pick up victory, even at home. Now, let’s find out if the Trojans are the right team to back in this intriguing NCAA basketball betting matchup.

How To Bet The Oregon State Beavers vs. USC Trojans NCAAB Odds & TV Info

When: Wednesday, March 2, 2016, 11:00 PM  ET Where: Galen Center, Los Angeles, California TV: FS1 NCAAB Odds: TBA

Why Bet The Oregon State Beavers

The Beavers (17-10 SU, 14-12 ATS) are a good bet in this contest for two reasons. They’re playing solid basketball right now and USC is mired in a dismal funk. Oregon State has won two straight and five of its last seven games overall including their emphatic 69-49 rout of Washington State as an 11-point home favorite on Sunday. Gary Payton II led the way by totaling 13 points, seven rebounds and eight assists – all while wearing his dad’s famous No. 20 jersey. Drew Eubanks added 13 points, nine rebounds and four blocks and Tres Tinkle chipped in 13 points for the Beavers. Oregon State limited Washington State to just 36 percent shooting in the win.

Why Bet The USC Trojans

No matter how hard I try to find a reason to back USC (19-10 SU, 16-12-1 ATS) in this contest, I just can’t find many besides the fact that the Trojans are playing at home. USC has lost three straight and five of its last six games overall including its 87-65 smackdown at the hands of Cal on Sunday while never coming close to covering the college basketball betting line as an 8-point road dog. Nikola Jovanovic scored a team-high 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Trojans, but USC never challenged their conference rivals after falling behind midway through the first half and trailing by as much as 29 points at one juncture. “You can’t get down in double digits and expect to win a game at Cal,” USC coach Andy Enfield said. “Our defense was solid but they scored their share when our shots just weren’t falling.”

Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction

No matter how hard I try to envision USC winning this contest, I just don’t see it happening, knowing each of their last three losses have come by 11 points or more and their last two losses coming by at least 20 points each. USC is a winless 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall, 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a straight up loss and just 2-5 ATS in their last seven games following an ATS loss. With the Beavers going 5-2 SU and ATS in their last seven games overall and pounding the snot out of the Trojans in their 85-70 home win on January 24, I say Oregon State gets the win again, though it will be a bit closer this time around. Besides, Oregon State is 7-3-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five road games against Southern Cal. My final score prediction: Oregon State 78 USC 70
