Washington already has clinched the Pac-12 regular-season title and a top seed in the conference tournament, so the Huskies have little to play for on Wednesday vs. Oregon State. UW is still solidly favored in the college basketball lines.

Season Series

UW goes for the sweep as it beat the Beavers 79-69 on Jan. 26. Nahziah Carter had highlight-reel dunks and 18 points with three steals. Jaylen Nowell scored 19 points with three 3-pointers and David Crisp had 14 points for the Huskies. The Huskies’ zone stifled Oregon State, forcing the Beavers into 44 percent shooting and 15 turnovers.

Washington scored 25 points off those turnovers, shot 58 percent from the field and had 12 turnovers. Stephen Thompson Jr. had 30 points with a career-high six 3-pointers and Tres Tinkle added 18 points and nine rebounds for the Beavers.

Oregon State and Washington meet for the 304th time in history with the Huskies leading a series that began in 1904, 161-142.

Why Bet on Oregon State?

OSU is slumping at the wrong time as it hopes for an NCAA bid, losing two straight and 3 of 4 – albeit all three losses by a combined six points. It was 74-71 at home to Arizona State on Sunday. ASU’s Luguentz Dort had 20 points with four 3-pointers — knocking down a clutch long-range shot and free throws in the final minute. Arizona State shot 47 percent, compared to 39 percent for Oregon State.

Tres Tinkle scored 24 points and Ethan Thompson narrowly missed a rare triple double with 20 points, and career highs of 13 rebounds and nine assists for Oregon State (17-11, 9-7). Oregon State’s only triple-doubles in history came from the same family. Gary Payton had a triple-double against Portland on Nov. 26, 1988, and his son Gary Payton II had a triple-double against Grambling State on Dec. 15, 2014.

Oregon State leads the Pac-12 in field goal percentage (.466); the last time they finished a season leading the conference in that category was 1984-85 (.525). Oregon State is shooting 74.1 percent from the free throw line; it would be the best percentage since the 1976-77 team finished at 74.3 percent. Tinkle is the only player in the country averaging at least 20.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. Kylor Kelley leads the nation in blocked shots per game (3.54).

A win here would give OSU its first winning season in conference play since the 1989-90 team finished 15-3 and won a share of the Pac-10 title. It would also be the first time Oregon State won five conference road games in a season since the 1989-90 team finished 6-3 on the road.

Why Bet on Washington?

The Beavers have lost 14 straight games to the Huskies in Seattle with the last Oregon State win coming on Feb. 20, 2003 (80-72). It’s the Beavers’ longest current road losing streak to a Pac-12 opponent.

As noted, above, UW has clinched the Pac-12 regular-season title. It comes off a 62-61 win at Stanford on Sunday after inexplicably losing to terrible Cal the game before. Stanford star KZ Okpala missed an off-balance 3-pointer at the buzzer and the Huskies secured the loose ball. The Cardinal committed a pair of turnovers in the final 2:37 after the teams had traded baskets down the stretch. UW has recorded seven conference road wins and hold a 7-1 mark on the road in league action. UW last had seven road wins in conference play during the 1956-57 season.

Oregon State at Washington should be an easy victory for the Huskies.

The Huskies have four 1,000-point scorers on their roster at the same time for the first time in program history in Noah Dickerson (1,528), David Crisp (1,432), Matisse Thybulle (1,195) and current leading scorer Jaylen Nowell (1,015). UW is the only team in the nation with four 1K scorers that have reached those points at their current school (no transfers).

Thybulle is the only player since 1992-93 to record both at least 95 steals and 60 blocks in the same season. Washington is second in the nation in blocked shots, averaging 5.9 per game as a team and are tied for 13th in steals (8.9) per game. Only UW and Duke rank in the top 15 nationally in both categories.

Finally, Washington is the only Pac-12 team that is undefeated at home, boasting a 14-0 mark in Alaska Airlines Arena. UW last went undefeated at home for a full season during the 2004-05 campaign.
