Penn State At Purdue Lines, Expert Pick & TV Info

Written by on January 19, 2017

With so many games on the college football calendar every single day, it can become tough to know where to focus your attention. Some fans like to stick with their favorite team or conference, but that can man missing out on some of the great action that is going on elsewhere. If you haven’t been paying attention to the Big Ten Conference this season, I suggest that it’s time you gave it a look. There I a rather messy log jam going on at the top right now, with no less than 5 teams separated by just a half game. There is going to be an awful lot of jockeying for position going on in there in the lead up to March Madness predictions, and it may end up having a direct effect on the overall rankings of the teams in question. One of the teams in that mix is the Purdue Boilermakers, and they will be trying to maintain the pace at the top when they host the Penn State Nittany Lions this coming Saturday.

Why bet on the Penn State Nittany Lions

Penn State Nittany Lions have been a tough team to figure out this season, as they have lost more than their fair share of games against teams that you really believe they should be beating. This appears to be a team that is in the habit of playing to the level of its opponent, which may serve them well in this one. They won back to back games against a good Michigan State team, and a ranked Minnesota Golden squad, and very nearly made it 3 in a row earlier this week in a close loss to Indiana. These games serve to show the level of parity in this conference and how any team can beat another on any given night. The Nittany Lions are 2-1 on the road this season, so it’s not out of the question that they can win.

Why bet on the Purdue Boilermakers

Purdue looked like a team on a mission earlier this week when they trounced Illinois 91-68. He Boilermakers were coming off a disappointing loss on the road to Iowa, and this win served notice to the rest of the conference that the previous loss was nothing more than a minor blip. Purdue are a very solid 10-2 at home, but perhaps more importantly, they have dominated Penn State in recent years, going 8-2 SU in their last 10 meetings, although they are just 5-5 ATS in those 10 games. Purdue re ranked #21 right now, and while a win here would not likely see their stock rise too much, it would keep them in touch with the pace setters in the conference.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

If Purdue can play the way they did in their win over Illinois earlier this week, this thing could get out of hand pretty quickly. I don’t think it will go that way, though, but I still like the Boilermakers for the win.
