While the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has undeniably altered the 2020-21 college basketball season, teams across the country are either heating up – or cooling off – in their respective pursuits to win this season’s national championship. With that thought in mind, it’s time to take a look at the most recent college basketball rankings so you can continue betting against their College Basketball odds.
Updated 2020-21 College Basketball Rankings
-
Gonzaga (12-0)
The Bulldogs remained unbeaten by thrashing overmatched Portland 116-88 on Saturday. Because of the pandemic, Gonzaga has been forced to play the likes of tiny opponents like Northwestern State (twice), Northern Arizona and Dixie State (who?).
-
Baylor (11-0)
Baylor got past TCU 67-49 on Saturday to move to 11-0 on the season. More importantly, the Bears rank a stellar sixth in scoring (89.0 ppg) and a fantastic 22nd in points allowed (61.2 ppg). Baylor is my top pick to win the 2021 national championship!
-
Villanova (8-1)
Third-ranked Villanova took out Marquette 85-68 in their last contest on Dec. 23. Could COVID-19 rust ruin the Wildcats’ national championship hopes?
-
Texas (10-1)
The Longhorns have won six straight since suffering their only loss of the season against Villanova. Texas got past No. 13 West Virginia 72-70 in a thriller on Saturday.
-
Iowa (11-2)
The Hawkeyes averaged their 102-95 Christmas Day overtime loss against Minnesota by beating the Golden Gophers 86-71 on Sunday. Still, I’m not impressed with this team once you get past superstar Luka Garza (27.6 ppg).
-
Kansas 10-2
I picked the Jayhawks to fall to Oklahoma State 79-75 on Tuesday and I nailed that score almost perfectly. After hosting Iowa State on Saturday, Kansas will suffer a road loss at Baylor on Monday. Book it!
-
Michigan (10-0)
I wasn’t a believer in the Wolverines earlier this season, but I definitely am now. Michigan has beaten Northwestern, No. 23 Minnesota and No. 9 Wisconsin its last three games!
-
Creighton (10-2)
The Blue Jays have won six straight and walloped St. Joe’s 97-79 on Saturday. Creighton ranks an impressive 23rd in scoring nationally (83.3 ppg).
-
Wisconsin (10-2)
The Badgers have dropped two of its last four games including an embarrassing 77-54 blowout at the hands of Michigan on Tuesday night.
-
Tennessee (9-1)
The Vols thrashed Texas A&M 68-54 on Saturday, thanks mostly to a defense that ranks a jaw-dropping third in points allowed this season (56.8 ppg)!
-
Houston (10-1)
The Cougars have won three straight including a 71-50 spanking of Tulane on Saturday. Houston gives up points about as often as a solar eclipse in ranking second nationally in points allowed (56.4 ppg).
-
Clemson (9-1)
The Tigers have won four straight including a hard-fought 74-70 win over NC State last Tuesday. COVID-19 related issues have kept Clemson off the court since then. The Tigers rank an outstanding sixth in points allowed nationally (57.6 ppg).
-
West Virginia (9-4)
The Mountaineers have dropped two of three including a crushing 72-70 loss to No. 4 Texas on Saturday.
-
Illinois (9-4)
Illinois had its four-game winning streak snapped in its 66-63 home loss against Maryland on Sunday. Clearly, superstar guard Ayo Dosunmu (22.4 ppg) can’t do it all by himself!
-
Texas Tech (10-3)
The Red Raiders have won two straight and four of five including a stunning 91-64 rout of Iowa State on Saturday.
-
Louisville (8-1)
The Cardinals got past No. 20 Virginia Tech 73-71 in a thriller last Wednesday to record their fourth straight win. However, Louisville’s stunning 85-48 blowout loss against Wisconsin says a lot to me.
-
Missouri (7-2)
The Tigers have lost two of three by at least 15 points including its 78-63 road loss against Mississippi State last Tuesday!
-
Virginia (7-2)
The Cavaliers have won three straight, but I’m still struggling with Virginia because their 98-75 Dec. 26 blowout loss to Gonzaga is still fresh in my mind.
-
Duke (5-3)
The Blue Devils had their three-game winning streak snapped by falling to No. 20 Virginia Tech 74-67 on Tuesday night. Ouch!
-
Virginia Tech (10-2)
The Hokies bounced back from their crushing loss last week against Louisville to beat Notre Dame 77-63 on Sunday and Duke 74-67 on Tuesday night. Virginia Tech ranks 67th in points allowed (65.1 ppg).
-
Ohio State (9-3)
One game after getting smacked around in its 77-60 home loss against Minnesota, the Buckeyes bounced back to beat a Rutgers team that was once ranked inside the national Top 25 just a few weeks ago.
-
Oregon (9-2)
The Ducks bounced back from their road loss against Colorado to beat Utah 79-73 on Saturday. 62-46
-
Minnesota (10-4)
The Golden Gophers have suffered consecutive blowout losses against Michigan and Iowa, 86-71 on Sunday. Ouch!
-
Saint Louis (7-1)
The Billikens beat up on in-state rival Kansas City but have not played since that contest on Dec. 23.
-
UConn (6-1)
Four straight wins, following their narrow 76-74 overtime loss to No. 8 Creighton has UConn back in the national rankings for the first time in years. The Huskies rank n outstanding 24th nationally in points allowed (61.8 ppg).
