Rhode Island Vs Creighton Free Pick, Odds & TV Info

Written by on March 16, 2017

When trying to put together a bracket or making winning picks during March Madness, too many people rely on simply looking at the seeding of the teams involved and basing it off of that. Perhaps a truer representation of how a game might go can be found in the betting odds that the bookies put up for every game. When you have a #6 seed going up against a #11, it would be fair to expect that the higher seeded team would be favored by a few points, but when the bookies have it close, you know that there is the real possibility of an upset in the making. If that is indeed the case, then the Rhode Island Rams may well be a team worth taking a look at. They will be in Sacramento on Friday to face the Creighton Bluejays in the Midwest Region, and the bookies have this one listed as a Pick ‘Em play. When you look a little deeper inside the numbers, it’s perhaps easier to understand why. Find the latest college basketball odds here.

Why bet on the Rhode Island Rams

The Rhode Island Rams headed in Conference Championship week as a team very much on the bubble, but they quickly turned into an automatic bid when they beat VCU to win the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Rams now have the benefit of some real momentum heading into the tournament, and they are a team that can get very, very hot offensively, whilst forcing their opponents to play in the paint all too regularly. One thing that could prove to be an issue for this team is their free throwing, which has been a bit of an Achilles all year long. They did seem to get it in check versus VCU, and a similar performance to that game from the line would certainly help them here.

Why bet on the Creighton Bluejays

It’s amazing how a team can go from good to mediocre with the loss of a single player, which is exactly what happened to Creighton when Maurice Watson Jr. was forced out of the line-up with a season ending injury. In the 12 games without him in the line-up, Creighton went just 5-7, and started to look like a team that was there for the beating. The offense has quite simply ailed to figure out a decent plan of attack without Watson Jr. as the catalyst, and that has hurt them in a big way coming down the stretch. I hate to say it, but they look like a bit of a beaten team even before things get started in the opening round.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

UPSET ALERT!! Creighton look like a lost team without their leader in the fray, and while I think they will battle hard in this one, I don’t think they are a match for the Rams offensively. Their only hope is that Rhode Island bottle it from the free throw line.
