TCU vs Iowa State NCAAB Lines Preview

Written by on February 19, 2016

While many of the teams in the top 25 are still trying to lock down their conference, there are a few that are simply trying to focus on heading into March Madness with the best possible ranking. That is pretty much where the Iowa State Cyclones find themselves right now. They are 3 games out of the top spot in the Big-12, and with just 5 games left to play in the regular season, the chances of them finishing at the top are pretty much zero. While that may be a little disappointing to the Cyclones, it may actually take off some pressure coming down the stretch, which should allow them to focus on moving up the rankings as far as possible. Their Saturday game versus TCU should be considered a slam dunk, but you can bet they won’t be taking anything for granted. Expect the Cyclones to be firm college hoops betting favorites for this one as they look for a repeat of the last meeting.

Why bet on the TCU Horned Frogs

Let’s be perfectly honest here, it’s not going to be easy to make any sort of case for the TCU Horned Frogs (11-15, 2-11) heading into this game. They have struggled badly in conference play, and only have 2 wins in their last 9 games overall. Their last 2 games were particularly galling, as the Horned Frogs were unable to crack the 50-point barrier in either one. All of this would seem to suggest that a blowout may be on the cards this weekend, and they did go down by 13 points on home court when they faced the Cyclones earlier this season. Your best chance at making any money from TCU this weekend is betting on them to cover the spread, but we will have to wait and see what the number is set at before making that wager. The Horned Frogs are averaging 66.2 PPG, and are giving up 69.1 PPG.

Why bet on the Iowa State Cyclones

Iowa State (18-8, 7-6) are coming off a devastating 100-91 OT loss to Baylor earlier this week, and are in need of a victory to get the bad taste of that loss out of their mouth. A meeting with the Horned Frogs may be just what the doctor ordered for the Cyclones, as this is a team that they dominated from start to finish the last time out. There are going to be some frustrated players in the Cyclones locker room, and I fear that they may be ready to vent those this coming Saturday. Iowa State have a pair of home losses this season, but those came at the hands of far better teams than TCU. The Cyclones are averaging 82.6 PPG, and are giving up 74.8 PPG.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

These two teams are poles apart at this stage of the season, and I think we will see just how wide that gulf really is on Saturday. I see an incredibly comfortable win for the Cyclones in this one. TCU Horned Frogs 55 Iowa State Cyclones 80
