Top College Basketball Betting Picks of the Week – December 26th

Written by on December 26, 2017

With the 2017-18 college basketball season approximately one-third of the way finished and the start of the New year at hand, it’s time for another round of top College Basketball betting picks of the week. This week, top-ranked Villanova takes on once perennially-powerful DePaul while two other matchups featuring four teams all ranked inside the national top 25 will also take place. Now, let’s get the scoop on all three matchups and find out where the best NCAAB betting value lies!

Top College Basketball Betting Picks of the Week – December 26th

No. 1 Villanova (12-0) at DePaul (7-5)

  • When: Wednesday, December 27 at 7:30 PM ET
  • Where: Wintrust Arena, Chicago, Ill
  • TV: CBSSN
The top-ranked Villanova Wildcats throttled head coach Jay Wright’s former team, the Hofstra Pride 95-71 on Friday night to remain unbeaten as forward Mikal Bridges scored a team-high 20 points and five other players scored in double figures for the Wildcats. The win was the fifth time this season that Villanova has scored at least 90 points in a game. “I feel good, we can get a lot better. I think our guys understand that. This was a good win against a good team,” Wright said. “We know we can get better and (the players) know we can get better.” Marin Maric scored 22 points in 24 minutes off the bench and Max Strus scored 21 points including, 16 in the first half, to lead DePaul over Miami (Ohio) 83-66 on Thursday night. The Blue Demons got back in the win column after having their five-game winning streak snapped against Northwestern in their previous game. Villanova has won nine of their 12 games by double digits and is averaging just about 18 points per game more than they allow defensively. I’ve got some really fond memories of when DePaul was a national powerhouse, but those days are long gone now. I fully expect the Wildcats to win this one by about a dozen points at the bare minimum and you should too!

No. 25 Creighton (10-2) at No. 23 Seton Hall (11-2)

  • When: Thursday, December 28 at 6:30 PM ET
  • Where: Prudential Center, Newark, NJ
Marcus Foster scored 16 points and No. 25 Creighton shot nearly 70 percent during a 58-point first half Wednesday night as the Bluejays cruised to a 116-62 victory over USC Upstate to win their fifth straight game. “I was really pleased with the start of the game,” Creighton head coach Greg McDermott said. “You worry as the guys prepare to go home to see their families for a few days, on what the level of focus will be. I’m proud of the guys that they were locked in.” Angel Delgado scored 15 points and grabbed 18 rebounds, Khadeen Carrington scored 15 and Desi Rodriguez added 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists as No. 23 Seton Hall beat Manhattan 74-62 on Saturday at home. Seton Hall coach Kevin Willard likes the way his 23rd-ranked Pirates are playing entering Big East play with the Pirates winning two straight and seven of their last eight. Creighton should appear in your College Basketball Betting list for this week. “I think we’re excited about being 11-2,” Willard said Saturday after a 74-62 victory over Manhattan. “I think we’ve put ourselves in good position heading into the Big East.” Seton Hall’s Kevin Willard might like the way his team is playing college basketball bettors, but he won’t be too happy following this game as I fully expect Creighton to simply overpower the Pirates with their far more explosive offense. Creighton averages almost a dozen points per game more than the Pirates and that will be the difference in this contest – and yes, it’s that simple!

No. 12 Oklahoma (10-1) at No. 10 TCU (12-0)

  • When: Saturday, December 30 at 1:00 PM ET
  • Where: Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena, Fort Worth, TX
Oklahoma has won eight straight and clearly has a flat-out superstar in point guard Trae Young (28.7 ppg, 10.4 apg), but TCU is unbeaten and undoubtedly looking like a very legitimate national championship title contender. Young scored a game-high 31 points and dished out a dozen dimes to lead Oklahoma to a resounding 104-78 win over Northwestern on Friday night. “I feel good about where we are at, but yet we got to keep working at it,” Oklahoma coach Lon Kruger said. “We know how tough every night is going to be (in the Big 12). To be where we are right now is the guys playing with confidence, and that’s what you want, guys playing with a high level of confidence and feeling good about what they are doing.” Alex Robinson scored a season-high 23 points to lead TCU in its 86-75 win over William & Mary on Friday night and help the Horned Frogs win their 17th straight game and remain unbeaten before conference play begins. “I think this is a whole different situation,” said Robinson, a junior in his second season after transferring from Texas A&M. I know Trae Young is a phenomenal player and that Oklahoma is now a legitimate title contender because of his play, but the fact of the matter is that TCU is the more cohesive and more well-rounded team in this affair. I’m genuinely expecting this contest to be the best affair of the week, but I’m going with the Horned Frogs to get the super narrow win, only because they’re playing at home.
