NCAAB Teams You Should Bet on and Bet Against This Week

With nationally-ranked title contending teams routinely moving up and down the national rankings in what has been one of the most unpredictable college basketball seasons in recent memory, you need to know which teams are ‘riding the ATS wave’ to consistent wins and which teams are struggling to bring home the bacon for their betting backers. In an effort to help you boost your annual college basketball betting bankroll, I’m going to highlight the hottest – and coldest ATS college basketball teams in the nation. Okay, with that said, let’s rock and roll!

NCAAB Teams You Should Bet on and Bet Against This Week

   

Michigan State 5-0 ATS

The Spartans (21-5 SU, 16-9 ATS) have won and covered the college basketball betting line in each of their last five games while beating Indiana, Purdue and Michigan along the way. The Spartans put the clamps on their opponents by limiting three of their last five opponents to 69 points or less.

Wisconsin 5-0 ATS

Beloved head coach Bo Ryan may be enjoying his retirement, but the Badgers (16-9 SU, 13-12 ATS) have gotten hot at just the right time, winning and covering the NCAAB betting odds in five straight games, including Saturday’s win over No. 2 Maryland. Wisconsin has held each of their last four opponents to 68 points or less while holding three of them to 61 points or less, including holding explosive Maryland to a mind-boggling 57 points.

Kansas 5-0 ATS

The Jayhawks (22-4 SU, 16-8 ATS) have won and covered the spread in five straight games, including impressive wins over No. 3 Oklahoma on Saturday and nationally-ranked West Virginia prior to that. Kansas is playing excellent defense by limiting four straight opponents to 72 points or less.

Notre Dame 4-1 ATS

The Fighting Irish (18-7 SU, 11-11-1 ATS) have won three straight and four of their last five games while covering the spread in each SU win. The Irish beat powerhouses, Louisville and North Carolina to record two of their last three wins.

Virginia 4-1 ATS

The Cavaliers (21-5 SU, 12-12 ATS) had their four-game SU winning streak snapped in their heartbreaking 63-62 loss to Duke on Saturday, but they’ve covered the spread in three straight and four of their last five games while playing their usual brand of lockdown defense. Missouri, St. Joe’s, LSU and Texas have all managed to cover the spread in four of their last five games.

Bet Against

St. Mary’s 1-4 ATS

The Gaels (20-4 SU, 13-8 ATS) have lost two of their last five games while alternating SU wins and losses in every contest. Making matters even worse is the fact that St. Mary’s is just 1-5 ATS in its last six road games against West Coast Conference-leading Gonzaga who they face on Saturday.

Oklahoma 1-4 ATS

The Sooners (20-4 SU, 10-12 ATS) have lost to K-State and Kansas in their last three games while going 0-3 ATS over the stretch and 1-4 AS over their last five. Next up is Baylor, who they beat 82-72 on January 23 to cover the spread as a 1-point road dog/

Baylor 1-4 ATS

Speaking of the Bears, Baylor (18-7 SU, 6-12-1 ATS) has lost three of its last four games by falling to Texas, West Virginia and Texas Tech while going 1-4 ATS over their last five games.

Texas A&M 1-4 ATS

The Aggies (18-7 SU, 8-10-2 ATS) are mired in a dismal funk, having dropped four straight and five of their last six games overall, including losses to lowly Arkansas and mediocre Vanderbilt.

Purdue 1-4 ATS

The Boilermakers (20-6 SU, 12-10 ATS) have lost two of their last three games in falling to Maryland and Michigan, though they did manage to squeak past Michigan State in between in overtime. Still, Purdue is 0-3 AT over their last three games and a discouraging 1-6 ATS over their last seven games overall.

UNLV 1-4 ATS

The Runnin’ Rebels won their last contest by beating Colorado State at home, but they lost each of their previous four game while failing to cover the spread in each loss. If you’re old enough, seeing the state of the Rebels’ program makes you wish for the days of Jerry Tarkanian, Larry ‘Grand mama’ Johnson and the rest of the elite Rebels teams of the early 90s.

Kansas State 1-5 ATS

The Wildcats (14-11 SU, 13-8 ATS) have lost two straight, three of four and four of its last six games overall while going 1-5 ATS over the stretch. The Cats host Kansas on Saturday after visiting TCU on Tuesday night. Washington State, Wake Forest and Saint Louis have all gone 1-4 ATS and look like good teams to wager against over the coming week.
