Analyzing Which Teams Oddsmakers Give Best Likelihood To Win It All In March

Duke 15/2

The Blue Devils (22-5) have won seven straight heading into Wednesday night’s matchups against Syracuse and suddenly have the look of a very legitimate title contender after struggling early on.

Gonzaga 17/2

The Bulldogs (28-0) may be the nation’s only undefeated team, but I have some serious reservations about the quality of competition they play in the mediocre West Coast Conference. Gonzaga is very good and plays extremely smart basketball, but until I see them beat a national powerhouse, I’m going to remain skeptical.

North Carolina 17/2

The Tar Heels (23-5) have won two straight as they get set for Wednesday night’s huge matchup against No. 7 Louisville. While Carolina has been a bit inconsistent the last couple of weeks while falling to Miami and Duke, the Heels are brimming with elite talent and athleticism and could make another deep tourney run like they did last season when they narrowly lost to Villanova in the national championship.

Kansas 9/1

The Jayhawks (24-3) have won four straight and will almost surely run the table over their next four games. What I like most about Bill Self’s teams are the fact that they’ve gone 9-1 in games against top 5 opponents since he arrived at KU.

Villanova 9/1

Maybe it’s me, but for some strange reason, I think people are really overlooking the Villanova Wildcats (26-2) despite the fact that they’ve been ranked inside the top four basically all season long. The Cat’s have plenty of experience and a Player of the Year candidate in superstar shooting guard Josh Hart (18.7 ppg).

UCLA 11/1

I’ve been pretty high on the UCLA Bruins (24-3) all season long and I think they’ll make a deep tourney run even though I am concerned about the occasional head-scratching clunker they’re prone to offer up, not to mention what I think may be a bit of overconfidence.

Kentucky 12/1

The Wildcats (22-5) have won four straight and five of their last six games and are starting to play the kind of basketball head coach John Calipari has been trying to get his mostly roster full of one-and-done phenoms to play all season long, particularly to the defensive end of the floor.
