This year’s March Madness hasn’t exactly been filled with the kind of upsets we’ve become accustomed to seeing. In fact, the first two round of the tournament have been so chalky that for the first time in Most of the favorites to win the Most Outstanding Player award still remain, therefore many of their March Madness odds have dropped very little, if at all. This means that you can find some incredible value in some of the players still available, it’s just a matter of nailing your champion as well.

Luke Maye

  • 2019 March Madness Most Outstanding Players Odds: +2000

The UNC senior will be playing in his third Sweet Sixteen this coming week and has been an opposing force in the two tourney games thus far, notching 20 points and 14 rebounds against Washington.

Maye currently sits behind teammates Coby White (+1200) and Cameron Johnson (+1500) for the third best odds on North Carolina. However, I think if UNC does win the championship it will because of Maye.

UNC currently stands at +700 to win the dance, sitting behind Duke, Gonzaga, and Virginia. Duke got exposed against UCF, Gonzaga is yet to face real competition, and Virginia is notorious for blowing big games.

I like UNC at +700, but I like Luke Maye at +2000 even more.

Jarett Culver

  • 2019 March Madness Most Outstanding Players Odds: +2200

I don’t think people understand how good Texas Tech, especially their defense, really is. Texas Tech finished the year ranked number one in defensive efficiency, and kind of remind me of the Butler team that lost to Duke in the National Championship, never allowing more than 60 points in a game during their road to the final.

So, I think anyone who is counting this team out because of name recognition is being foolish. Culver, a projected top five draft pick, is undoubtedly the best player on the team. If Texas Tech wins the championship, it will be because Culver led them there.

The Big 12 Player of the Year is averaging 18.8 points/game, and is lighting it up in the tournament thus far.

Grant Williams

  • 2019 March Madness Most Outstanding Players Odds: +3000

After spending most of the year as the nation’s top team, Tennessee didn’t finish off the year as they might have hope. However, the Vols have found their form and there’s no reason this team can’t be champions when all is said and done. They’re extremely dynamic on offense, and if the opposing team can’t keep up the pace, good luck.

Williams is also the best player on what many consider to be favorites. The former SEC player of the year saved Tennessee from a historic collapse against Iowa, as he completely took over the game in overtime. Expect Tennessee to continue to lean on Williams during their journey to the finals.
