Why Bet The Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama (16-10 SU, 14-10 ATS) had its five-game SU winning streak and three-game ATS winning streak snapped in their 67-61 loss against Mississippi State as a 5.5-point home favorite on Saturday. Junior forward Shannon Hale scored a season-high 22 points for Alabama while senior guard Retin Obasohan also scored 22 points though the loss put a massive dent in Alabama’s March Madness tournament hopes.

Crimson Tide coach Avery Johnson was not pleased afterward. “I didn’t like the energy in the locker room before the game,” Johnson said. “We had a different type of energy before LSU and Florida.”

Why Bet The Kentucky Wildcats

Kentucky (20-7 SU, 12-15 ATS) had its four-game winning streak snapped in their crushing 79-77 overtime loss against Texas A&M on Saturday while failing to cover the spread as a 2-point road favorite. Tyler Davis’ putback basket at the buzzer lifted the Aggies to victory after a technical foul on Isaac Humphries cost the Wildcats the lead in the final seconds.

Texas A&M’s Anthony Collins missed a shot with nine seconds remaining and Humphries pulled down the rebound with the Kentucky up by one. After Humphries was fouled on the play, he slammed the ball to the court and was whistled for a technical that earned him his fifth and final foul. “The play there at the end sullied up the game,” Kentucky coach John Calipari said. “That’s what it did.”

Humphries didn’t speak to reporters but tweeted “I will learn from this” about 30 minutes after the game. Tyler Ulis had 22 points and 11 assists for Kentucky, which had won four straight

Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction

Kentucky may be wildly inconsistent this season, but they’re my pick to take down Alabama and cover the spread if it doesn’t go over….let’s say…six points. The Wildcats pounded the snot out of Alabama in its 77-61 road win on Jan. 9 to cash in as a 6.5-point road favorite and I just don’t see them losing to the Tide at home in this contest, especially after losing a heartbreaker this weekend.

I know the Tide are 21-5-1 ATS in their last 27 games following an ATS loss and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 road games against a team with a winning home record, but Kentucky is a near-perfect 5-1 ATS in their last half-dozen home games against a team with a winning road record, 4-1 ATS in their last five home games and a consistent 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games versus a team with a winning straight up record.

The Crimson Tide are 5-0 ATS in the last five road dates against Kentucky, but I say the Cats take this one.

My final score prediction: Kentucky 75 Alabama 69
