Every season in NCAA Basketball, there are dark horse teams that have a chance to win a championship. Once March Madness arrives, you just never know who is going to come through win wins. Let’s take a look at some Dark horse contenders to win the NCAA Basketball national championship spread for the 2016 season:

NCAAB National Championship Dark Horse Odds Contenders

Miami Hurricanes

The Miami Hurricanes are a team that has had a great basketball season, but could still be considered a dark horse to win it all. The Hurricanes are listed at 30/1 to win the national title. Miami finished second, in a tie with Virginia at the top of one of the best conferences in the country. The Miami Hurricanes are 24-6, and can really put the basketball into the basket. The Hurricanes have just two losses since the 1st of February, which makes them a dangerous team come March Madness.

Purdue Boilermakers

The Purdue Boilermakers could be a nice dark horse contender to win the NCAA Basketball national championship. Matt Painter’s crew is one of the tallest teams in all of the NCAA. The Boilermakers wrapped up their regular season with a third place tie in the Big Ten. The Boilermakers have won their last three games heading into the Big Ten tournament. This is a team many will overlook, but certainly a dark horse when it comes to winning games during March Madness.

Utah Utes

The Utah Utes are next on the list. The winners of seven straight games, it’s hard to argue about any team in the country being hotter than the Utes. They finished second in the Pac-12, just behind the Oregon Ducks. Utah has not lost since back to back games at the beginning of February on the road at Oregon State and also at Oregon. The Utes have one of the top scorers in the nation, so look out. Utah could be a great dark horse contender to bet on come the NCAA Basketball tournament.

Gonzaga Bulldogs

Many thought the Gonzaga Bulldogs were on the bubble to get into the NCAA tournament, but they fixed that by downing Saint Mary’s, and getting into the NCAA tournament. Now, Mark Few and his Bulldogs are back in the tournament. The Bulldogs have won five straight games, and are 26-7 overall. This may not be the most talented Gonzaga team, but certainly a dark horse worth looking at. Mark Few continues his streak of reaching the tournament, look for big things this season.

South Carolina Gamecocks

The South Carolina Gamecocks are heading to the postseason. They have 24 wins on the season, and finished in a tie for third in the SEC. The Gamecocks are led by Frank Martin, and are hungry to win some games in March. They are going to be a tough team to ousts in the postseason. Their seeding will depend on their success in the SEC tournament, but they will be in a game. Check out the South Carolina Gamecocks as one of the dark horses this March.
