The 2015-16 College Hoops Odds season is still in its opening weeks. Let’s take a look at some of the teams that are off to a slid start.
Nov 25th NCAA Basketball Betting Power Rankings
# 25 SMU (3-0)The Mustangs are banned form postseason play this year thanks to junior guard Keith Frazier gaining eligibility through an online course that an assistant coach took for him. That hasn’t kept the Mustangs from winning at Pac-12 foe Stanford. Defensive lapses are an area that coach Larry Brown needs to address.
# 24 George Washington (4-0)This team has already knocked off Virginia. Look for them to continue to turn some heads.
# 23 Indiana (3-1)An overtime loss to Wake Forest – who then got drubbed by Vanderbilt in the Maui Classic – could make this team’s spot in the rankings a temporary one.
# 22 Notre Dame (3-0)Demetrius Jackson is making 60 percent of his shots this year. His career high? 50.8 percent.
# 21 Cincinnati (4-0)The Bearcats are an amazing presence on offense – averaging 96.3 points per game so far.
# 20 Xavier (4-0)Trevon Bluiett is a stellar player, leading the team in scoring and grabbing rebounds in bunches too.
# 19 Wichita State (2-1)The loss to Tulsa wasn’t all that bad, but now Fred VanVleet is out with a bad hamstring.
# 18 Oregon (4-0)Tyler Dorsey leads the Ducks in field goal percentage, 3-point percentage, assists and points.
# 17 Connecticut (3-0)The first three have been easy. Now come Michigan and Maryland.
# 16 Vanderbilt (5-0)The Commodores did get taken to overtime by Stony Brook…at home. But they destroyed Wake Forest in the Maui Classic.
# 15 California (4-0)Tyrone Wallace is having a great senior season so far: 20.8 points per game to go along with 5.8 boards and 5.5 assists.
# 14 Arizona (4-0)The Wildcats lead the nation with a 42-game home winning streak.
# 13 Purdue (5-0)Purdue beat Florida in the finals of the Hall of Fame Tip-Off tournament.
# 12 Virginia (4-1)The Cavaliers did lose at George Washington, but they did send the Colonials to the free throw line 28 times.
# 11 Miami (FL) (5-0)The Hurricanes have already beaten Butler and Utah, two opponents in the top 25 polls.
# 10 Gonzaga (2-0)Their game in Japan was ended at halftime because of floor concerns. In their two wins back in the U.S., they averaged 96 points.
# 9 Oklahoma (2-0)Memphis almost won at Oklahoma, so this is a touted team that needs to build consistency.
# 8 North Carolina (4-1)Miss Marcus Paige much? That missing point guard led to their upset loss at Northern Iowa.
# 7 Iowa State (3-0)The Cyclones have won their last two by an average of 31 points.
# 6 Kansas (2-1)Against Michigan State, the Jayhawks struggled down the stretch.
# 5 Duke Blue (4-1)After getting spanked by Kentucky, the Blue Devils have earned gritty wins over VCU and Georgetown.
# 4 Villanova (4-0)No opponent has scored more than 63 points against Villanova this year.
# 3 Lipscomb (3-0)The wins aren’t coming easily, as Rider and Georgetown both pushed the Terrapins.
# 2 Memphis (4-0)Denzel Valentine became the fourth Spartan to achieve a triple-double in the win over Kansas.
