Top NCAA Basketball Picks of the Week – March 5 Ed.

March Madness is almost upon us, but before we get to the tournament, there is the business of the conference championships to take care of. A few were completed last week, but it will be the bigger conferences that go to town over the next few days. Many of the bigger, top-seeded teams will not play until later in the week, so they will not be part of our picks, as we won’t know who they play until the earlier games are taken care of. There are going to be a lot of games to wager on over the next few days, so let’s take a look at some of the better match-ups that we can bet on in the NCAA Basketball odds.

San Francisco Dons Vs Gonzaga Bulldogs – Monday

The WCC was a bit of a 2-horse race this season, with Saint Mary’s finishing a game back of the Gonzaga Bulldogs for the regular season crown. Both teams will play tonight, but let’s start off with Gonzaga. They will start out with a game against the San Francisco Dons, a team that they beat twice in the regular season. The Dons finished 9-9 in conference play and kept both games against the Bulldogs relatively close. BYU Cougars Vs Saint Mary’s Gaels – Monday

These two teams had very similar regular season records, but it was their performance in WCC play that set them apart. The Cougars finished 3^rd in the conference with an 11-7 record, 5 games back of Saint Mary’s and their 16-2 mark. It was the Gaels who won both meetings with BYU this season, with both games ending in double-digit margins of victory. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Vs Boston College Eagles – Tuesday

Neither one of these teams lit things up in the ACC this season, with both languishing near the bottom of the standings. That said, this is a game that I believe could be quite entertaining, as both teams will be looking to end their season on a high note. They only met once in the regular season, and it was Boston College who took that one in an 80-72 win on home court. I think we are going to get a closer game this time around, with this one held on neutral ground. It’ll be tight, but I like the Boston College Eagles to eke out the win. Louisville Cardinals Vs Florida State Seminoles – Wednesday

The Virginia Cavaliers dominated the ACC this season, but after them, the race was actually very tight. The Cardinals and the Seminoles ended up in the middle of the pack in the conference, but both teams had solid regular seasons, with Louisville racking up 19 wins and Florida State hitting the 20-win mark. These two split their regular season series, with the margin of victory being a slender 4 points in both games. This is the game that I will be tuning into on Wednesday afternoon, as I think it’s one that will go right down to the final buzzer.
