Updated NCAA Basketball Championship Odds – March 21

Written by on March 21, 2018

March Madness it’s not just some catchy phrase that the NCAA uses to promote its annual Men’s National Basketball Championship Tournament, it’s an absolute certainty – and apparently, it’s getting more maddening each and every year. With this year’s NCAA Tournament producing more wild and wacky results than ever and the start of the Sweet 16 just over 24 hours away, college basketball bettors everywhere need to know just which teams still standing to have the best chances of actually delivering on their 2018 NCAA Basketball Championship odds. That’s where I come in with some expert NCAAB betting advice on all 16 teams and their respective chances of actually cutting down the nets as national champions. Let’s get started.

Updated NCAA Basketball Championship Odds – March 21st

Loyola-Chicago

  • NCAA Basketball Championship Odds: +8000
With a stingy defense that ranks fifth nationally (62.2 ppg) it’s definitely conceivable that the 11th-seeded Loyola-Chicago Ramblers could take down No. 7 Nevada in their Sweet 16 matchup in their next contest. However, I just don’t see the overachieving mid-major getting past a Kentucky team that I expect to dispatch Kansas State the next time out. Unfortunately, the Ramblers Cinderella run will likely come to an end in the Elite Eight at best.

Syracuse

  • NCAA Basketball Championship Odds: +8000
As inconceivable as It looks on the surface, I see no reason why No. 11 Syracuse can’t upset No. 2 Duke in the Sweet 16 – or get past the winner of Kansas vs. Clemson Sweet 16 matchup if they do defeat the Blue Devils. Of course, the Orange lost to Duke by 16 points in the regular season, but hey, it is March Madness, right?

Kansas State

  • NCAA Basketball Championship Odds: +5500
I guess it’s possible that No. 9 K-State could upset No. 5 Kentucky in their upcoming Sweet 16 matchup, but I’m not seeing that happening with John Calipari’s collection of one-and-done future NBA performers clearly playing their best basketball of the season at just the right time!

Florida State

  • NCAA Basketball Championship Odds: +5000
After taking out No. 1 Xavier in the second round, I can easily see No. 9 Florida State beating No. 4 Gonzaga in the Sweet 16 before dispatching the winner of the Michigan vs. Texas A&M matchup in the Elite Eight to reach the Final Four – where anything could happen from that point!

Clemson

  • NCAA Basketball Championship Odds: +4000
No. 5 Clemson is not getting past No. 1 Kansas in their Sweet 16 matchup on Friday – or maybe you didn’t know the Tigers are an awful 5-5 over their last 10 games!

Nevada

  • NCAA Basketball Championship Odds: +4000
No. 7 Nevada pulled off a huge upset by dispatching No. 5 Cincinnati in the second round and I believe they could dispatch Loyola-Chicago in the Sweet 16, but this is also the same team that lost to San Diego State to close out the regular season and in their conference tournament matchup six days later. The Wolf Pack have had a great run, but it comes to an end in the Elite Eight at best against Kentucky!

Texas A&M

  • NCAA Basketball Championship Odds: +1600
I like No. 7 Texas A&M heading into their Sweet 16 matchup against No. 3 Michigan and I believe they could beat the winner of the Gonzaga vs. Florida State matchup in a West Region, that just looks wide open at this point.

Texas Tech

  • NCAA Basketball Championship Odds: +1500
No. 3 Texas Tech has had a phenomenal season, but I don’t see the Red Raiders getting past No. 2 Purdue in their upcoming Sweet 16 matchup. Even if they manage to pull off the upset, they’re not getting past my pick to win it all in the Elite Eight, so there’s that as well!

West Virginia

  • NCAA Basketball Championship Odds: +1000
Simply put, you should expect No. 5 West Virginia’s tournament run to come to an abrupt halt against No. 1 Villanova in the Sweet 16. The Mountaineers’ full-court pressure style of play will not cause the experienced and deep Wildcats any problems.

Purdue

  • NCAA Basketball Championship Odds: +1000
The Boilermakers will dispatch Texas Tech in the Sweet 16, but I don’t see them getting past top-seeded Villanova the Elite Eight, though I will admit – it’s not completely inconceivable.

Michigan

  • NCAA Basketball Championship Odds: +580
It’s certainly possible that No. 3 Michigan could get past Texas A&M in the Sweet 16 and the winner of the Florida State vs. Gonzaga matchup in the Elite Eight. However, after seeing their super lucky win over Houston in the second round, I’m thinking the offensively-challenged Wolverines get dispatched at some point very soon. The NCAA Basketball Championship Odds for Michigan are not very good.

Gonzaga

  • NCAA Basketball Championship Odds: +550
No. 4 Gonzaga has managed to reach the Sweet 16, but they’ve looked pretty mediocre in doing so. Personally, I’m thinking the Zags are in trouble right now with a capital ‘T’.

Kansas

  • NCAA Basketball Championship Odds: +550
The Jayhawks look like they’re on a collision course to meet No. 2 Duke in the Elite Eight. Even if they survive that matchup (they won’t) I don’t see them making the championship game because of one team in particular.

Kentucky

  • NCAA Basketball Championship Odds: +330
Kentucky will beat both, K-State in the Sweet 16 and the winner of the Loyola-Chicago vs. Nevada matchup in the Elite Eight to reach the Final Four. As a matter of fact, I like the Wildcats to beat whichever teams wins the West Region as well t reach the national championship game.

Duke

  • NCAA Basketball Championship Odds: +200
I’ve got the prohibitive favorite Blue Devils in the Final Four after getting past Kansas in the Elite Eight, but that’s where their postseason party comes to a crashing halt. Read on to find out why!

Villanova

  • NCAA Basketball Championship Odds: +250
I had Villanova winning it all one the first day of the season and I still believe the Wildcats will do just that. First, they’ll dispatch West Virginia in the Sweet 16 before narrowly getting past No. 2 Purdue in a tough Elite Eight matchup. After that, I’ve got the Wildcats beating Duke in the Final Four and then, Kentucky in the national championship. If you didn’t know, Villanova has a mind-boggling six players that average double figures in scoring. They’ve got a ton of big game experience with several players remaining from the title-winning team from two years ago and last but not least, the Wildcats have one of the very best head coaches in the game today.
