The holiday season is in the past, and college hoops are heating back up once again. Unfortunately, many teams are met with COVID restrictions, and many teams are postponing or canceling games due to COVID. This is also making conferences reshape the way they handle games that postpone.
With the games we do have this week, let’s look at a few games that would make a good parlay so you can place your bets against the College Basketball odds.
NCAA Basketball Parlay Picks for Week 9
Baylor Bears vs Oklahoma Sooners
A matchup in the Big 12 Conference between the number one team in the nation and another team on the rise in the Big 12. Undefeated Baylor takes on Oklahoma, who is trying to find an identity with new head coach Porter Moser. Baylor opens up as a 12.5 point favorite.
Baylor, this season is off to a 13-0 start with a 1-0 record in the Big 12. The Bears have two big wins over the Stanford Cardinal and the Arizona State Sun Devils out of the Pac-12.
They also beat Villanova handily, along with a conference win over #8 Iowa State. The Bears are led by LJ Cryer, the sophomore guard who is averaging 13.5 points per game.
As mentioned, this is the first year for the new head coach, Porter Moser. Moser previously made a name for himself as the head coach at Loyola Chicago.
He led the Ramblers to multiple NCAA Tournament’s, including a Final Four appearance in 2018. The Sooners come in on a four-game win streak. Tanner Groves leads the Sooners with 14.2 points per game.
Look for Baylor to continue their winning ways with another win over Big 12 opponent, Oklahoma.
Illinois vs Minnesota
Big Ten action is back in full swing as the Illinois Fighting Illini travel to Minnesota to take on the Golden Gophers. Illinois, a team that is riding an up and down season, is still looking for that resume win.
The Minnesota Golden Gophers have turned some heads early this season with their great play to start. Illinois opens up as 5.5 point favorites.
The Illinois Fighting Illini come into this matchup at 9-3 overall on the season with a 2-0 Big Ten record. They won both Big Ten games before the holiday season over Rutgers and Iowa.
The Fighting Illini most recently blew out Missouri in the Braggin’ Rights Game in St. Louis. Kofi Cockburn is leading the Illini in points and rebounds, making a case for National Player of the Year.
The Minnesota Golden Gophers are off to a hot start this season with a new head coach, Ben Johnson. Minnesota comes into the game at 10-1 on the season with a 1-1 Big Ten record. Minnesota played the two Michigan schools, losing to Michigan State and winning against Michigan.
While both teams are playing for the first time, this could be a sloppy game. Look for Illinois and their experience to take over late in this game. Illinois will win and cover at 5.5 points.
Auburn vs South Carolina
The final game of our parlay comes out of the SEC, where one of the top teams in Auburn takes on a South Carolina team that is slowly finding its way. Auburn ranked inside the AP Top 10 this week at #9, currently on a nine-game winning streak. South Carolina comes into the game at 9-3 on the season with their most recent win over Army.
Auburn currently is 10.5 point favorites to start the game. The lone loss on the season for the Tigers was a double-overtime game against UCONN.
Since then, Auburn has rattled off wins against Loyola Chicago, Syracuse, St. Louis, and LSU. In this win streak, Jabari Smith leads the Tigers with 16.2 points per game. Look for Auburn to win and cover in this game.
The Gamecocks have good wins on the resume, but they also have two bad losses to Princeton and Coastal Carolina. The third loss was to Clemson, where they lost by 14. With wins over Georgetown and Florida State, there are a few things to hold onto for this season.
They do not stand much of a chance in this game against one of the top-ranked teams in the SEC, Auburn.
