NCAA Football Week 5 Over/Under Picks

Written by on September 25, 2018

It’s hard to believe that we are already a month into the college football season, yet here we are getting ready to soak up all the action that Week 5 will deliver. As always, we are going all out to deliver as many picks and predictions as possible, as well as a bunch of game previews that we hope will help you with your wagers this coming weekend. We have already put together a set of ATS and SU picks for Week 5 of the college football season, so now it’s time to focus on the point total of several games. Let’s take a look at our O/U picks for Week 5.

NCAA Football Week 5 Over/Under Picks

Tennessee Volunteers vs Georgia Bulldogs (OVER 50 ½)

Last season’s National Championship runners-up are off to a perfect 4-0 start to the season, with the Georgia Bulldogs once again looking like the cream of the SEC East. They will have another conference game taking place between the hedges this weekend, with the Tennessee Volunteers coming to town. The point total for this one has been set at 50 ½ and there are a couple of reasons to like the OVER here. The first is that Georgia has scored at least 40 points in all 4 games this season, with the second being that 5 of the last 6 meetings between these two in Athens have gone OVER the point total.

  • The total has gone OVER in 5 of Georgia’s last 6 games when playing at home against Tennessee

Baylor Bears vs Oklahoma Sooners (OVER 68 ½)

Things were looking a little too easy for the Oklahoma Sooners in the opening few weeks of the season, which is why their OT scare against Army last week may have come at just the right time. That 28-21 win served as a reminder that there are going to be tougher games to come for this team and that they need to be focused and ready every single week. Look for the Sooners to come out and make a statement against Baylor this weekend, which could well mean running up the score to get the offense clicking again. The OVER has hit in 5 of the last 6 Sooners games, so let’s go with that again.

Florida Gators vs Mississippi State Bulldogs (UNDER 50 ½)

Another big SEC match-up here, with the Bulldogs looking to rebound after a tough loss to Kentucky last week. Oddly enough, both these teams come into Week 5 at 3-1, with each of their losses coming at the hands of the Wildcats. The Bulldogs have a definite advantage here with the home field, but what we are really interested in is the point total. Florida should be one of your College Football Week 5 Picks. The Florida Gators tend to tighten up considerably when they hit the road, with 6 of their last 9 away games going UNDER the point total. These two are a combined 2-4 O/U this season, which is why I am leaning towards the UNDER here.

Michigan Wolverines vs Northwestern Wildcats (OVER 48)

Given the past trends of these two teams, I am taking a bit of a risk here, but I think it may turn out to be a good one. After a slow start to the season, the Michigan Wolverines offense finally seems to be coming to life with Shea Patterson under center. That was highlighted last week in a 56-10 win over Nebraska, taking their 3-week point tally to 150. The issue here is that 14 of the last 19 games that Northwestern have played at home have gone under, with 4 of the last 5 home meetings with Michigan going the same way. Call it a hunch, but I really like the OVER here.
