NCAA Football Week 8 SU Picks

Written by on October 17, 2018

After the wild and crazy weekend that was Week 7 of the college football season, making picks seems a little more stressful than it was previously. The underdogs reigned supreme last week, taking down a number of teams that were in the hunt for a playoff spot. Will this week be more of the same or will we get back to business as usual? It’s tough to say for sure, but based on the latest NCAAF Odds, we are putting together some SU picks that we hope will put a little extra money in your pocket. Be sure to keep an eye out for out college football Week 8 ATS and O/U picks, too, all of which will be out today.

NCAA Football Week 8 SU Picks

Stanford Cardinal over Arizona State Sun Devils

The Cardinal have seen their season fall apart over the last 2 weeks, losing to Notre Dame and Utah, the latter of which was a game that they started as a 4-point favorite. They are a favorite again this week, although at – 2 ½ the bookies don’t appear to be totally convinced that they will win this one going away.

After a positive start to the season under new head coach Herm Edwards, the Sun Devils have gone off the boil, losing 3 of their last 4 games, with each of those losses coming via a 7-point margin. I think we might well be in for more of the same on Thursday night, which is why I am on Stanford to win.

Ole Miss Rebels over Auburn Tigers

The Auburn Tigers started the season with a statement win over the Washington Huskies but were then beaten by LSU in a game that seemed to take the wind out of their sails. QB Jason Stidham and the Tigers offense has been struggling of late, which is part of the reason why this team is now on a 2-game losing skid, the latest of which was a 30-24 loss to Tennessee in a game that Auburn started as a 14 ½ point favorite.

The feeling is that they are going to need to put up some points against a Rebels team that can very good offensively on their day. I think we might just see a mild upset here.

Clemson Tigers over NC State Wolfpack

Last week saw a major change in the college football rankings due to the number of wins by underdogs. The little guys will be looking for more of the same this week, which might suggest that Clemson could be in trouble. The Tigers still sit in the #3 spot, but it’s fair to say that they have not been the Clemson team that we are used to seeing.

Ordinarily, you would expect them to steamroll the Wolfpack, but NC State is coming into this one unbeaten and hungry for more. I think this one might be closer than people expect, but Clemson gets the win.

Duke Blue Devils over Virginia Cavaliers

The Blue Devils saw their unbeaten start to the season come to an end a couple of weeks ago in a loss to the Virginia Tech Hokies, but they are still a very healthy 5-1 on the season. The Cavaliers are in at 4-2 on the year and are coming off a huge upset victory over the Miami Hurricanes.

It was certainly a huge win, but there is often a bit of a letdown after those types of games, which could come into play here. While the Blue Devils are favored by a TD here, I think things might be a little closer, although I still expect Duke to win.
