2019 National Championship Betting Underdogs Analysis

The 2018 College Football postseason may have just concluded with Alabama’s improbable 26-23 overtime comeback win, but if you’re a college football betting aficionado, then you should know that you can already place a wager on the team you like to win it all next season. That’s right collegiate gridiron gamblers, thanks to the recent release of 2019 National Championship future odds, you can already place a longterm wager on the team or teams you like to win it all next season. Better yet, thanks to the expert betting advice that you’re about to get on some of the top championship contenders, you’re going to have a great idea of just which teams could likely pull off the upset over their higher favored counterparts. I’ve identified eight title contenders whose odds are lying between 30/1 and 40/1 that could all pull off the championship over the nation’s top dozen favorites and I’m going to highlight one or two reasons why each team could potentially end up as the 2019 national champion. Now, let’s get started.

2019 National Championship Betting Underdogs Analysis

Texas A&M

  • 2019 National Championship Betting Odds: 50/1
The Aggies have a championship-winning head coach now in Jimbo Fisher and I think either Nick Starkel or Kellen Mond could be successful under center, but I’m not too sure the Aggies are going to be able to overcome so much change in Year 1 of the Fisher era to challenge for a national championship. Besides, with Alabama, Georgia, and Auburn as SEC rivals, Texas A&M has a lot of elite opponents to get past.

Florida

  • 2019 National Championship Betting Odds: 60/1
The Gators also have a new – and very good head coach coming on board in former Mississippi State leader Dan Mullen, but he’s going to be dealing with the indefinite suspension of seven players, plus some looming felony charges and all sorts of other nonsense that lead me to believe that Year 2 is going to be a whole lot better than Year 1.

TCU

  • 2019 National Championship Betting Odds: 60/1
The Horned Frogs will have a new starting quarterback next season, but they’ll still be a defensive powerhouse and they’ve got a bunch of four-star talent at all of their offensive skill positions. I think a challenge for the Big 12 title at the very least is definitely not out of the question.

Oregon

  • 2019 National Championship Betting Odds: 60/1
The Ducks will have a new head coach in Mario Cristobal, so I suspect there will be some growing pains for the former FIU head coach and OU co-offensive coordinator after the Ducks went 7-5 in 2017 under one-and-done former head coach Willie Taggart.

Arizona

  • 2019 National Championship Betting Odds: 100/1
The Wildcats have yet to hire a new head coach after parting ways with Rich Rodriguez for some mysterious and uncorroborated sexual harassment charges levied against home by his former administrative assistant. The good news is that whoever takes over the Wildcats program is going to inherit a Heisman trophy-challenging quarterback from monster dual-threat superstar Khalil Tate.

Missouri

  • 2019 National Championship Betting Odds: 100/1
Despite their season-ending 33-16 loss against the Longhorns in the Texas Bowl, I think Missouri will be a formidable team in 2018, thanks to the return of quarterback Drew Lock and another year under head coach Barry Odom. The Tigers had won six straight before their bowl game loss while absolutely exploding on their opponents by scoring 45 points or more in every game during the stretch. Yes, they play in the SEC and have a tough schedule in 2018, but things are looking up at Mizzou if you ask me.

Oklahoma State

  • 2019 National Championship Betting Odds: 100/1
Gifted quarterback Mason Rudolph is off to the NFL where he will almost assuredly be a first-round draft pick. Mike Gundy is a very good head coach, but overcoming a loss like that will be very difficult, to say the least! The 2019 National Championship Betting Odds for Mike Gundy and the Cowboys doesn't look good.

UCLA

  • 2019 National Championship Betting Odds: 100/1
I’m just going to copy and paste a previous couple of sentences about Oklahoma State right here, seeing as how the Bruins not only lost gifted quarterback Josh Rosen but are now rebuilding under former Oregon head coach Chip Kelly. Year 2 will be a lot better than Year 1 in Los Angeles for Kelly and company.

Boise State

  • 2019 National Championship Betting Odds: 100/1
Quarterback Brett Rypien will be back and 10 starters on the defensive side of the ball. Make no mistake about it, Boise State looks like a definite Top 20 kind of team heading into next season!

Iowa State

  • 2019 National Championship Betting Odds: 200/1
The Cyclones finished with their best record since 2000 this past season and had one of the best defenses in the nation in 2017. More importantly, Iowa State retained highly sought after head coach Matt Campbell. Right now, a lot of how the Cyclones’ 2018 campaign goes will depend on whether or not quarterback Kyle Kempt returns after filing a hardship waiver for another season.

Nebraska

  • 2019 National Championship Betting Odds: 200/1
Former Central Florida head coach Scott Frost returns to his alma mater after leading the Knights to an undefeated season that was capped off with a bowl game win over an Auburn team that beat both national championship participants. I believe Frost is going to make an immediate impact at Nebraska to help the Cornhuskers improve immediately in 2018. However, it won’t be enough to overcome teams like Wisconsin, Penn State and Michigan State in Year 1.
