2019 College Football Week 5 Over/Under Betting Picks

Written by on September 24, 2019

Week 4 of the college football season proved to be an important one, with some bigger teams losing and sliding down the rankings. It was also a week where a couple of teams at the top proved that they are almost certainly for real, with the Georgia Bulldogs and Auburn Tigers both coming up with some impact wins. There is no time for anyone to rest on their laurels, though, as the games only get bigger with each passing week.

With that in mind, we are going to take a closer look at the games this weekend to see if we can pick out some winners. We will have SU and ATS picks available, but for now, let’s focus on some O/U NCAA Football betting selections.

2019 College Football Week 5 Over/Under Betting Picks

Rutgers Scarlet Knights at Michigan Wolverines (UNDER 48)

Speaking of big results, the Michigan Wolverines dropped out of the National Championship conversation in a big way with a 35-14 loss to Wisconsin last weekend. It was a loss that you saw coming, as the Wolverines had been struggling to eke out wins all season long.

The biggest issue of many for this team is their inability to get anything going on the offensive side of the football. While you would expect them to win this one, I have a hard team seeing them putting up the kind of offensive output to get this game beyond the point total. I am UNDER all the way here.

  • The total has gone UNDER in 7 of Rutgers’ last 8 games played on a Saturday
  • The total has gone OVER in 5 of Michigan’s last 5 games against Rutgers

Northwestern Wildcats at Wisconsin Badgers (OVER 45 ½)

Through the opening 4 weeks of the season, the Wisconsin Badgers have suddenly emerged as one of the favorites in the Big Ten. They cemented that last week with their absolute demolition of the Michigan Wolverines, and you would certainly like them to lay another beating on a Northwestern Wildcats team that is struggling to get anything going this year.

It would not be entirely surprising to see the Badgers surpass that point total all on their own, plus 6 of their last 7 September games have gone OVER the total.

  • The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Northwestern’s last 7 games played on a Saturday
  • The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Wisconsin’s last 6 games against an opponent in the Big 10 conference

Virginia Cavaliers at Notre Dame Fighting Irish (UNDER 50)

It is going to be interesting to see how the Irish are going to react after losing a huge game at the hands of the Georgia Bulldogs in primetime last weekend. It’s not going to be an easy one for them either, as they will be hosting a Virginia Cavaliers team who are a perfect 4-0 through the opening month of the season.

Notre Dame looks like a good College Football Week 5 betting pick.

It has been the UNDER that has been the way to go when wagering in the Irish, with 5 of their last 6 games going that route. The Cavaliers are 2-2 O/U this season, with their lone road game this year going UNDER.

Mississippi State Bulldogs at Auburn Tigers in College Football Week 5 (OVER 46 ½)

One of the biggest questions this season was about whether anyone could mount a serious challenge on Alabama in the SEC West. For now, it looks as though the Auburn Tigers might be that team, but they will get another stern test this weekend when they welcome in the Mississippi State Bulldogs, who have opened the season with a 3-1 record.

It was the Bulldogs who won this meeting last year, although, that win came on home field. While the Bulldogs have seen 10 of their last 11 games versus SEC foes go UNDER, I have a feeling that this one is going to have quite a bit of offense.

  • The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Mississippi State’s last 5 games on the road
  • The total has gone UNDER in 11 of Auburn’s last 15 games when playing as the favorite
