2020 College Football Playoff Teams That Will and Won’t Make It
Clemson will make the CFP because the ACC is a bad conference and Trevor Lawrence is back at quarterback. The Tigers won’t make the CFP because they must replace their entire defensive line.
Alabama Crimson Tide
Alabama will make the playoff because the schedule is easy and Tua Tagovailoa might be better this season than he was last season. The Tide won’t make the playoff because the offensive line must prove itself.
Georgia will make the playoff because the rushing attack should be one of the best in the nation. The Dawgs won’t make the CFP because the defense is inexperienced and the schedule is tough: Note Dame, at Florida, and at Texas A&M.
Oklahoma will make the College Football Playoff because Jalen Hurts should run Lincoln Riley’s offense to perfection. The Sooners won’t make the playoffs because although the defense is better, it might not be good enough for an undefeated regular season.
Ohio State Buckeyes
Ohio State will make the CFP because the Buckeyes field five-star recruits every year. Ohio State won’t make the CFP because they must replace Dwayne Haskins at quarterback, Nick Bosa at defensive end, and one of the best head coaches in their history in Urban Meyer.
The LSU Tigers will make the playoffs because they return players on offense, 7, and defense, 8. LSU won’t make the playoffs because although they’ve got experience, that experience might not be good enough to beat Alabama, Georgia, and Texas A&M.
The Wolverines will make the College Football Playoff because they battle their three rivals: Notre Dame, Michigan State, and Michigan, at home. Michigan won’t make the playoffs because Jim Harbaugh is 1-9 straight up against Top 10 teams.
Florida will make the playoffs because they’re experienced and Dan Mullen is one of the top coaches in college football. The Gators won’t make the playoffs because they must travel to LSU, and battle Auburn and Georgia this season.
Notre Dame Irish
Notre Dame will make the College Football Playoff because quarterback Ian Book plays behind a top offensive line. The Irish won’t make the playoffs because they must travel to Georgia, Michigan, and Stanford.
The Longhorns can make the playoffs because quarterback Sam Ehlinger is experienced and the defense is loaded. Texas won’t make the College Football Playoff because the offensive line has three new starters while the defense, although loaded, lacks depth.
