NCAAF 2020 Season Week 14 SU Picks Expert Analysis

Written by on November 30, 2020

The nature of this college football season meant that we all had to come to expect the unexpected. We have already seen that in terms of results and poor seasons from teams that we all expected to be challenging for a playoff spot. Perhaps more than that, though, we are seeing COVID have a bigger impact on things. Ohio State are the perfect example, as they may end up in a position where they simply do not end up playing enough games this regular season to warrant a berth in the Big Ten Championship Game or the playoffs. It’s hard to argue that they are not one of the 4 best teams in the country, but how do you put them in with just 4 or 5 games played when other have played 9 or 10? This will all work itself out in the next couple of weeks. For now, let’s stick with Week 14 and our SU selections that you should use to place your bets against their NCAAF odds.

Texas A&M Aggies over Auburn Tigers

The battle for the top 4 spots in the college football playoff is going to go all the way down to the wire. The Texas A&M Aggies are very much in the picture, but they need to continue winning if they are to make it in. They are on a run now that has seen them win 5 in a row to get to 6-1, with their lone loss coming to Alabama. The problem there is that the loss to the Crimson Tide will keep them out of the SEC Championship Game. The need to win out and do so in some style to catch the attention of the Playoff Committee. A trip to Auburn is never easy, but the Tigers have been very up and down all season and are coming off a blowout at the hands of Alabama in the Iron Bow. I think the Aggies get the win they need to stay alive in the playoff hunt.

Purdue Boilermakers over Nebraska Cornhuskers

This is one of those games that is always tricky to handicap, as you have a pair of teams coming in who have not been very good over the past few weeks. The Nebraska Cornhuskers are just 1-4 on the season, while the Purdue Boilermakers have now lost 3 in a row ahead of this one. The thing with Purdue is that they have been able to put some fairly decent numbers on the board in terms of offense, but they have struggled on the defensive side of the football. They have averaged over 30 PPG in those 3 defeats, so you would certainly expect them to get some points on the board against the slumping Cornhuskers. I think we see a lot of offense here, as well as a win for the Boilermakers.

Oklahoma State Cowboys over TCU Horned Frogs

Say what you want about the Oklahoma State Cowboys, but they sure have been fun to watch this season. They head into Texas this weekend with a 6-2 record, bouncing back from a thumping at the hands of the Sooners to deliver a 50-44 win over the Texas Tech Red Raiders last weekend. Outside of the Oklahoma game, their games tend to be of the closer variety, which is why they are a very slim favorite over a TCU team that also plays an offensive style of football. This one could very well turn into a shootout and might well be decided by whomever gets the ball last. My money is on the Cowboys to eke out the win.
