It was not a good week to be a fan of the top teams in college football in Week 7, as there were huge upsets to be found all over the place. For the fan with no real dog in the fight, it was an exciting weekend, though, as it threw the National Rankings into turmoil. Teams that we expected to be in the playoff hunt all the way to the end are now going to be scrambling to get back in the postseason picture, although a couple still essentially control their own destiny. One thing that has remained constant from Week 1 of the season has been the play of the Alabama Crimson Tide.
We always expect this team to be good, but they appear to have taken things to another level. With LSU and Auburn both already taking conference losses, the Crimson Tide look set to win the West and get back to the SEC Championship. Before all that, though, they need to get past another conference foe on the road in Tennessee this weekend. Alabama is in as a 29-point favorite, with the point total set at 59 ½.

Why bet on the Alabama Crimson Tide?
Alabama is a perfect 7-0 to start the season, and while their toughest games are yet to come, the reality is that no-one has even come close to touching them yet. The offense is about as efficient as it gets, averaging over 53 PPG and basically closing out every game before we even get to half-time.
They were a little off the pace in their most recent win, taking out Missouri 39-10, but rather than looking at the offense in that one, you need to look at the D. This was a unit that had been challenged by coach Saban after giving up 31 to Arkansas and they responded in a big way against a Tigers offense that has posted some big numbers this season. Despite winning big, the Crimson Tide have covered just once in their last 4 games, although they are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 visits to Tennessee.

Why bet on the Tennessee Volunteers?
No-one was really expecting very much from the Volunteers this season given that coach Jeremy Pruitt is in the first year of what is sure to be a challenging rebuild. There have been some positives, though, the biggest of which came last week in an unexpected 30-24 win over Auburn, a game that Tennessee started as a 15 ½ point favorite.
That was a very nice win for the Vols, but it really has no bearing here. The Auburn Tigers are in the midst of an awful skid and are totally devoid of confidence, whereas the Crimson Tide know that they are the big kid on campus. Tennessee is just 3-6 ATS in their last 9 games and is also just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 tilts at home.

Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction for Alabama at Tennessee
There are probably going to be some more surprises this weekend, but almost certainly not in this one. I like Alabama to once again roll to a comfortable victory in a lopsided affair.
