Can Tom Herman get the Texas Longhorns back on the national map in his first season in the Lone Star State and can the Washington Huskies rule the Pac-12 for the second straight season after reaching the four-team playoff a year ago? If you want to know which teams are offering the very best win total NCAAF betting odds in their respective conferences, then look no further, I’ve got the answers you’re looking for people!
Analyzing The College Football Betting Win Total Bets for each Conference
Georgia Tech 6.5 WinsThe Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have a question mark at quarterback, but they also return the majority of their offensive line and their skill position players at wide receiver and running back and that bodes well for Paul Johnson’s triple-option offense which returns seven starters. On the defensive side of the ball, the Yellow Jackets have a few question marks with their front seven, but they should be better than they were a year ago, simply because they have eight returning starters.
After winning nine games last season, I can’t see the Yellow Jackets falling all the way to six wins no matter how hard I look for losses on their upcoming schedule. I’ve got Georgia Tech beating Tennessee at home in their opener, Jacksonville State in Week 2, UCF a week later and both, Pittsburgh and North Carolina at home the following two weeks. A win at home against Wake Forest and a road win against Virginia will give them seven wins and a road win at Duke will make it eight. Simply put, play the Over 6.5 wins. It’s that simple!
College Football Betting Picks: Over 6.5 Wins
Penn State 9.5 WinsThe Nittany Lions have a pair of legitimate Heisman candidates in running back Saquon Barkley and quarterback Trace McSorley and look like a 10-win team to me after recording 11 wins a year ago to win the Big ten and reach the Rose Bowl.
Penn State should go 6-0 right off the bat by beating Akron, Pitt and Georgia State at home in Weeks 1, 2 and 3. I’ve got Penn State winning at Iowa in Week 4 before coming back home to pound lowly Indiana and escaping a loss at Northwestern.
Penn State should be able to handle Michigan at home to extract some revenge against the Wolverines for last season’s 49-10 blowout loss before they run into a tough date at Ohio State. Four straight wins should close out the 2017 regular season at Michigan State, at home against Rutgers and Nebraska before finishing with a road win at Maryland. A 10-2 campaign and the Over 9.5 wins looks like an absolute lock people!
Texas 7.5 WinsThe Longhorns won five games last season and that was with a bunch of dysfunction under former head coach Charlie Strong. Now, with Tom Herman taking over, I’m expecting a modest, two-game improvement at the very least. Texas will open with a pair of wins at home against Maryland and San Jose State before falling at USC in Week 3. Two mores wins will follow at Iowa State and at home against K-State. The Longhorns will then suffer a pair of losses at home against Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, before hitting the road to beat Baylor. A road loss against TCU will follow before the Horns close out their 2017 season by beating Kansas at home, losing at West Virginia and beating Texas Tech at home.
Tom Herman is an excellent head coach, but I like the Horns to fall just short of reaching the eight-win plateau after initially and over-optimistically thinking they could approach nine or 10 wins earlier this spring.
College Football Betting Picks: Under 7.5 Wins
Florida 8 WinsThe Florida Gators were fairly impressive in winning nine games last season, but it’s not going to happen again in 2017, mostly because Florida will have a new starting quarterback and returns just two starters from a defense that ranked sixth nationally in points allowed last season.
The Gators will lose games this coming season at Michigan in their opener, at home against Tennessee in Week 3 and at home against LSU in Week 6. I’ve also got the Gators falling to either Texas A&M or Georgia and dropping their regular season finale at home against Florida State to finish at 7-5 or maybe 6-6. Either way you look at it, nine wins in 2017 is asking just a bit too much of the Gators.
College Football Betting Picks: Under 8 Wins
Washington 9.5 WinsAfter winning a dozen games to reach the CFB Playoff last year, I’m thinking Chris Petersen’s Washington Huskies are an absolute lock to reach the 10-win mark – if not run the table like I wrote in my bold predictions last week.
Washington will pound Rutgers, Montana and Fresno State in its first three games before sneaking past a game Colorado team on the road in Week 4. Heisman Trophy candidate quarterback Jake Browning and running back Myles Gaskin will then lead the Huskies to a road win at Oregon State, a home win over Cal and another road win at Arizona State.
A pair of tough home wins over UCLA and Oregon should follow those victories, before the Huskies have (and win) a very difficult road matchup at Stanford. Right now, I’m thinking the Huskies will close out their 2017 campaign with really hard-fought home wins against Utah and Washington State (in a shootout) to possibly run the table. Even in a worst-case scenario, I don’t see the Huskies losing more than one – or maybe two games to easily top their 20-17 win total odds!
