I suppose it’s possible that Saturday’s matchup between Colorado and No. 15 Washington from Seattle is a preview of the Pac-12 title game, but the loser probably has little shot to make it. The Huskies are solid NCAAF lines favorites.

Teams last met in the Pac-12 title game in the 2016 season and Washington rolled to a 41-10 win. Taylor Rapp returned one of his two interceptions for a touchdown and Myles Gaskin ran for 159 yards – Gaskin is still with UW but more on him in a minute. The Huskies broke open a close game when Rapp intercepted Sefo Liufau’s passes on the first two drives of the second half for a touchdown and to set up a field goal that made it 24-7. Washington QB Jake Browning, also still with the team, was just 9 for 24 for 118 yards but did throw two TDs.
Washington and Colorado have squared off 16 times in their history and the Huskies hold the edge with 11 wins, five losses, and one tie. Washington has won eight straight games vs. the Buffaloes.
Why Bet on Colorado?
The Buffs fell from the Top 25 with last week’s 31-20 loss at Southern Cal – the Trojans have never lost to CU in 13 tries. The Buffs’ offense struggled for most of the night and CU’s secondary gave up a rash of big plays in the second quarter.
CU’s longest play of the night was a 49-yard touchdown run by wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr., a score that gave the Buffs a temporary 7-0 lead. But the Trojans responded with 28 unanswered points — 21 in the second quarter — and Colorado never threatened again. CU quarterback Steven Montez was 26-for-47 for 170 yards and no touchdowns and an interception. The interception, his first in three games, bounced off Shenault’s hands and into the hands of USC’s Ajene Harris, who returned it 6 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter. Montez was also sacked four times.
Colorado came in allowing just 3 points in the fourth quarter (best in the nation); USC came in with 39 fourth-quarter points (47th). Colorado won the quarter, 13-3, meaning CU has yet to allow a fourth-quarter TD.
Before leaving with a foot injury, Shenault improved his numbers to 60 receptions for 780 yards (13.0 per) in six games; his streak of one receiving TD in five games came to an end (it tied for the second longest streak in CU history, two short of the record), but his career-long rush of 49 yards for a score extended it overall to six games (11 TDs on the season). Shenault leads the country with an average of 130 receiving yards per game and also has 11 touchdowns (six receiving and five rushing).
Colorado head coach Mike MacIntyre confirmed senior defensive lineman Jase Franke suffered a torn ACL during the Buffaloes’ loss at USC and will miss the remainder of the 2018 season. Starters Mustafa Johnson, Javier Edwards, and Israel Antwine are the only defensive linemen that had played more snaps than Franke going into last Saturday’s game.
Why Bet on Washington?
The Huskies were upset 30-27 in OT at Oregon last week. The Ducks potentially ended the Pac-12’s hopes of landing a team in the College Football Playoff by getting the best of their rivals after two straight years of receiving beatings by the Huskies.
Washington kicker Peyton Henry missed a 37-yard field goal attempt on the final play of regulation. Henry’s kick was wide right. Washington took possession first in overtime but had to settle for Henry’s 22-yard kick after stalling inside the 10. Oregon followed with a TD.
The Huskies played parts of the second half without their top two running backs after Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed both left with injuries and played sparingly in the closing minutes. Gaskin is one of the best tailbacks in school history and in the country.
He injured his shoulder in the Huskies’ Oct. 6 victory at UCLA and aggravated the injury in the first half against Oregon. He did return to the field, getting four carries in the second half, but was in visible discomfort coming off the field after his last carry. Gaskin has never missed a game in his record-breaking career at UW but is very much in question for this one. Gaskin enters the Colorado game with 4,678 yards, 6th-most in Pac-12 history.
Since the 1947 season, Washington is 214-66-3 (.761) when a Husky player rushes for 100 yards in a game. The Huskies were 8-0 in such games in 2016, were 5-1 in 2017 and are 2-0 this year. Meanwhile, wide receiver Quinten Pounds, who injured his knee against UCLA and didn’t play against Oregon, is out of for the year.UW has outscored opponents 202-112 this year and, in quarters two and three (combined), UW is outscoring its opponents 103-36 this season.
