Georgia at Vanderbilt Game Preview & College Football Lines for Week 6

Written by on October 4, 2017

The biggest threat to the Crimson Tide may well be the Georgia Bulldogs, once again huge favorites based on the College Football lines for Week 6. It may be putting the cart before the horse to suggest that the Dawgs will win the East, but they are in control of their own destiny right now and are playing the sort of football that tends to win championships. Georgia has a bit of a tricky one this weekend, as they need to go on the road to face a Vanderbilt Commodores team that is better this season. The Dawgs are in as a 17 ½ point favorite, and the O/U has been set at 40 ½ points. College football has established a status quo in that we have seen the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Clemson Tigers go to the National Championship game in back to back years. There are fans out there who would love to see a third straight meeting, especially since those games ended in a split. That said, there are plenty more who would like to see this little partnership broken up, but the biggest question among that group is which team is going to be able to topple Alabama in the SEC, and this match-up can provide a solid answer.

Why consider the Bulldogs College Football Lines for Week 6?

The Georgia Bulldogs were a consistently good team during the Mark Richt era, but the knock on them during that time was that they always came up short in the big game. They appear to have flushed that out their system under head coach Kirby Smart, and it all began with a big win in South Bend against Notre Dame in Week 2. That win seemed to inspire Georgia, as they have looked unbeatable from that point forward. The last two weeks have seen them pound both Mississippi State and Tennessee into submission, beating both teams by a combined 72-3. The Dawgs defense is as good as it gets, and even though the offense is being led by freshman QB Jake Fromm, they are clicking on all cylinders. There will also be an element of revenge in this one, as Georgia fell 17-16 against Vandy last season. Georgia is 5-1 SU in their last 6 games, but are just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 meetings with the Commodores. 4 of the last 5 games between Georgia and Vandy in this stadium have gone UNDER.

Why consider the Commodores College Football Lines for Week 6?

The Vanderbilt Commodores bolted out of the gate in the early part of the season, winning their first 3 games. Winning inspires confidence, but it may have made this team a little too much so, as they made the mistake of calling out Alabama the week before they faced them. The Crimson Tide did not take kindly to the perceived insult and ended up crushing the Commodores 59-0. The reality of playing in the incredibly tough SEC seems to have now been totally hammered home, as they followed up that loss with another one at the hands of the Florida Gators last weekend. The College Football Lines for Week 6 show no love for Vanderbilt. Despite their win against Georgia last season, Vanderbilt is still just 3-19 in their last 22 meetings with the Dawgs. They are still tough to beat at home, though and have gone 5-2 SU in their last 7.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

Better teams than the Commodores have struggled to move the ball against this dominating Georgia defense, so it’s tough to know where the points are going to come from. I don’t really see any way that Vandy can keep this thing close, so let’s go with Georgia to win and cover, as the College Football Lines suggests, and let’s also take the UNDER. Score: Georgi Bulldogs 33 – Vanderbilt Commodores 7
