Trojans Seeing Last of Williams?
The Heisman Trophy winner of a season ago will make his final regular season start behind center for the Trojans for the 2023 season. There are many that project Williams will not play in a bowl game, and enter the NFL Draft. Despite some great numbers, it has been a disappointing season for the signal caller. Williams has thrown for more than 3,245 yards and 29 touchdowns, with just four interceptions.
His top target this season has been Tahj Washington, with 47 receptions, and 915 yards. Washington is second to Brenden Rice, in touchdowns. Rice has 11, while Washington has six. The run game has seen MarShawn Lloyd carry the football most often. He has 108 carries and 803 yards, while Williams has 156 yards and 11 rushing touchdowns.
The defense has been the issue for the Trojans. USC ranks 123rd in College football, as they are allowing just shy of 35 points per game. The Trojans have allowed 42.5 points per game in their four losses this season.
Bruins Seeking .500 in League Play
The UCLA Bruins are in danger of finishing under .500 in Pac-12 play. The Bruins have dropped back to back games and are 3-4 in league play. In their four conference losses, the Bruins have scored just 48 total points. That’s just 12 points per game. On the season, the Bruins are scoring 26.4 points per game.
The Bruins boast two running backs that can be a problem for opponents. Carson Steele and TJ Harden are both getting plenty of chances in the offseason. Steele has 745 yards and six touchdowns, while Harden is up to 533 yards and five touchdowns.
UCLA will finish their regular season at home against California. The Bruins are bowl eligible with six wins already, but they would love to grab two more and head into the bowl game with a ton of momentum.
