Ole Miss At LSU College Football Winning Favorites

There are two ways things can go when a coach gets fired in the early part of the season. The team, which is already struggling, can essentially pack up their stuff and go further downhill, or they can rise up under the direction of the new coach. In the case of the LSU Tigers, who fired Les Miles a few weeks back, things have gone in the latter direction. The Tigers have put together 3 straight wins under Ed Orgeron, and it has to be said that they look like a revitalized bunch. They are going to have another tough test this weekend with the Ole Miss Rebels coming to town. The Rebels have been up and down all season long, but when they are firing on all cylinders, they are an incredibly tough team to take down. The problem here is that they haven’t fired that way on too many occasions this season. The LSU Tigers are a 6.5-point online betting favorite for this one.

Why bet on the Ole Miss Rebels

The one thing that has been working for the Ole Miss Rebels is their offense with QB Chip Kelly pulling the strings. He has posted some excellent numbers so far, throwing for over 1,800 yards and 14 TD’s against just 5 picks. The Rebels are going to put points on the board this weekend, but it’s also guaranteed that their Jekyll and Hyde defense is going to give points up. It is the defense that has been the Achilles heel for this team all season long. It is a very talented bunch, but they have had some serious lapses that have ended up costing this team, often in the second half of games. If the D can stand up tall this weekend, the Rebels will come away with the win.

Why bet on the LSU Tigers

It has been the LSU defense, as usual, that has been carrying this team all season long. They have allowed just 14 PPG this season, and have a front seven that is more than willing to get after the QB at every opportunity. They will be trying to get to Kelly to keep him from torching their secondary, and that may well be their key to victory here. It also looks as though the Tigers will have Leonard Fournette back in the fold this weekend, although it’s hard to imagine that he is going to see a lot of action in this one. The last meeting between these two in Death Valley saw the Tigers come away with a 10-7 win. This should be another close one, but I think we’ll see more points this time around.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

For me, this is one of the best games on the college football calendar this weekend. These are two very good teams, but I think it will be LSU that will use home field to their advantage on their way to a slim victory.
