2017 PAC 12 Fearless College Football Betting Predictions

Written by on August 15, 2017

College football is made up of many different conferences, but it is the power 5 that are going to send teams to the playoffs. There are only 4 of those spots up for grabs, which mean that none of the power 5 is going to be on the outside looking in once the playoff committee makes their final decision. The PAC 12 looks particularly strong this season, but will they be the conference that ends up missing out on one of those coveted playoff berths? We already have available the latest betting odds for the NCAAF Conferences. So, let’s make some bold predictions for the PAC 12 in 2017.

2017 PAC 12 Fearless College Football Betting Predictions

1. The USC Trojans Will NOT Win the Conference

There are a lot of college football pundits who believe that the Trojans are the team to beat in the PAC 12, and that they also have a legitimate shot at a National Championship. Their schedule would certainly suggest that they should be the favorites to win the conference, but the question that needs to be asked is whether this team is good enough to consistently win in hostile territory, which is arguably where their toughest challenges are going to come this season. I think they will drop at least 2 games and miss out on the playoffs.

USC TROJANS TEAM STATISTICS

Offensive total yards 476.38 Current Offensive rush yards 200.00 Offensive passing yards 276.38 Average Score For 34.38 Defensive total yards 367.15 Current Defensive rush yards 139.08 Defensive passing yards 228.08 Average Score Against 24.23

2. The Colorado Buffaloes Will Take a Backwards Step

Colorado had a very good season last year, and while I expect them to be a solid offensive team again this season, they lost a lot of talent on the defensive side of the football. This is a conference that is going to be vastly improved this season, and a few of those wins from last year are going to become losses this season. Their conference schedule opens with Washington, which is then followed by 3 of 4 on the road. That is where the losses will start to pile up.

COLORADO BUFFALOES TEAM STATISTICS

Offensive total yards 436.43 Current Offensive rush yards 183.00 Offensive passing yards 253.43 Average Score For 31.07 Defensive total yards 341.50 Current Defensive rush yards 149.43 Defensive passing yards 192.07 Average Score Against 21.71

3. The Oregon Ducks Aren’t Quite Ready To Fly Again

Over the past few years, the Oregon Ducks have been one of the most exciting football teams in the country, but last year was one where they took a big step back. There is a lot of buzz about the team that Oregon has put together for the coming season, but given the improvements in the conference, I don’t think we can expect the Ducks to get back to the heights that they reached when Marcus Mariota was taking the snaps. This is a team that still has some defensive issues, and which is probably still one year away from being truly competitive once again.

OREGON DUCKS TEAM STATISTICS

Offensive total yards 491.42 Current Offensive rush yards 226.17 Offensive passing yards 265.25 Average Score For 35.42 Defensive total yards 518.58 Current Defensive rush yards 246.67 Defensive passing yards 271.92 Average Score Against 41.42

4. The Stanford Cardinal Could be the Conference Dark Horse

The Cardinal went from 12 wins in 2015 to 10 wins last year, and the general consensus is that the downward trajectory could continue now that Christian McCaffrey is plying his trade in the NFL. I think it is altogether too early to write this team off, as I believe they are going to take a step forward this season. This was a team that was a whole lot more than just McCaffrey last season, and I believe that they are one of the teams in the teams in this conference that can really challenge for the top spot. You can bet that a few teams are going to take them a little too lightly this season, and those opponents will be punished.

STANFORD CARDINAL TEAM STATISTICS

Offensive total yards 367.081 Current Offensive rush yards 208.38 Offensive passing yards 158.691 Average Score For 26.31 Defensive total yards 368.08 Current Defensive rush yards 144.46 Defensive passing yards 223.62 Average Score Against 20.38

5. The Washington Huskies Win the PAC 12 and Go To the Playoffs

The defending PAC 12 champions look to have an easier schedule than they did last year, as their season begins with 8 of their first 9 games coming against teams that were not in a bowl game last season. The defending PAC 12 champions look to have an easier schedule than they did last year. Yes, they ae going to have a tough go of things against their conference foes, but let’s not forget that this is essentially the same group of players that laid waste to the PAC 12 last season. There may be a single loss in there along the way, but Washington will do more than enough to win the conference and impress the playoff committee.

WASHINGTON HUSKIES TEAM STATISTICS

Offensive total yards 456.93 Current Offensive rush yards 198.14 Offensive passing yards 258.79 Average Score For 41.79 Defensive total yards 316.86 Current Defensive rush yards 133.93 Defensive passing yards 182.93 Average Score Against 17.71
