Georgia is the unanimous top-ranked team in both college football polls, with Cincinnati in the second spot, followed by Alabama, Oklahoma, Ohio State, and Michigan. With the exception of Georgia, all of the top undefeated teams have shown flashes of vulnerability while a number of others have suffered losses that have thrown the entire College Football Playoff (CFP) picture in a state of uncertainty.
After looking like a lock to run the table and become the first Group of Five team to qualify for the CFP, Cincinnati was unimpressive in a 27-20 win over 1-6 Navy, while number three Oklahoma failed to score a point in the first half against arguably the worst Power Five conference team in the nation before righting the ship and prevailing 35 – 23 against Kansas.
Out of all of the college football games on the slate for Week 9, there is a handful that offers a good opportunity to prey on the lack of attention paid to them by the oddsmakers to pick up some nice payouts on Saturday. Let’s get right to our Week 9 betting picks of the 2021 College Football season so you can bet against their NCAAF odds.
Top 2021 NCAAF Week 9 Matches to Must Watch and Bet On
(6th ranked) Michigan Wolverines (7-0 overall, 4-0 in conference) -3.5 (-115) @ (8) Michigan State Spartans (7-0, 4-0) +3.5 (-105)
Michigan State has run up a nice undefeated record against a weak schedule and will now host a real football team when Michigan rolls into East Lansing. The Wolverines have been more impressive playing a tougher schedule, so lay the points and take Michigan to win big.Texas Longhorns (4-3, 2-2) +2 (+100) @ (16) Baylor Bears (6-1, 3-1) -2 (-120)
Both of these teams are coming off bye weeks, with Texas looking to end a two-game losing streak to Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. Texas has been wildly inconsistent at times, but they’re probably the better overall team than Baylor, so take the pair of points and go with Texas to get back on track in the Big 12.
(1) Georgia Bulldogs (7-0, 5-0) -14.5 vs Florida Gators (4-3, 2-3) (Jacksonville, Florida)
The world’s biggest outdoor cocktail party that masquerades as a football game boasts the most dominant team in college football so far in 2021. Florida showed promise after narrowly losing 31-29 to Alabama, but hasn’t shown much consistency with losses to Kentucky and LSU, while the Gators are on a roll. Go with the ‘Dogs and lay the points.
(20) Penn State Nittany Lions (5-2, 2-2) @ (5) Ohio State Buckeyes (6-1, 4-0) -17.5
Penn State suffered a shocking nine overtime 21-19 loss to Illinois on Saturday, giving up 357 yards to the Illini while being held to 227 yards of total offense. The weaknesses in Penn State’s offense were exposed and Ohio State is on a mission after an early loss to Oregon, so look for the Buckeyes to overwhelm the Nittany Lions and blow past that seemingly sizable spread.
Virginia Cavaliers (6-2) @ (25) BYU (6-2) -2.5
It’s unclear how a BYU squad that has struggled in its last three games can be hanging onto a spot in the rankings, but they’re about to get exposed in an ugly way by a Virginia air attack that is absolutely lethal behind quarterback Brennan Armstrong, who leads the nation in passing with over 400 yards a game. The Cavaliers have won their last four games, scoring 48 points each in their most recent victories over Duke and Georgia Tech, so take Virginia to beat the spread and win the game outright by at least a touchdown.
