Why Should You Bet on Clemson During the NCAAF Postseason?

The Favorite

  • Alabama Crimson Tide
  • Curren record: 10-0
  • College Football Championship Odds: 6/5
The top-ranked Crimson Tide just keep on winning year after year no matter who’s under center, who the starting running back may be or what the names of their formidable defensive players are. Nick Saban has completely and utterly mastered the ability to put together a perennially-powerful championship title contender each and every year and that alone may be an understatement. This season, Alabama is ranked ninth in rushing (270.8 PPG) and eighth in scoring (39.9 PPG). Not only that, but they’re also playing under the best quarterback in the Saban era in gifted sophomore Jalen Hurts. The Tide are ranked a stellar second in total defense (253.8 YPG), eighth against the pass (167.0 YPG) and stupendous first in points allowed (11.2 PPG). Right now, Alabama looks as impressive as they ever have! Alabama has been a perennial national title contender – when they’re not actually winning it all and I believe it’s going to take another Herculean effort from someone to beat them out this season.

The Smart Pick

  • Miami Hurricanes
  • Current record: 9-0
  • College Championship Odds: 7/1
The unbeaten Hurricanes are my ‘smart’ pick over teams like Clemson and Oklahoma for one main reason. The U. has swagger! All histrionics aside, not only is Miami ranked a stellar 10th in points allowed (16.6 PPG) and encouraging 39th in scoring (32.6 PPG), but they just look – and more importantly, act – like a team that believes it can beat anyone, including the top-ranked Crimson Tide. The Hurricanes have a bunch of speedy athletes on both sides of the ball that are not afraid of the moment and actually relish the big stage and bright lights and that alone speaks volumes to me that, should they reach the CFP, they will most certainly not be overwhelmed by the moment. The Hurricanes College Football Championship Odds have increased the past couple of weeks Redshirt junior quarterback Malik Rosier is now a legitimate star while running back Travis Homer and wide receiver Braxton Berrios bring their own kind of special talents to the table. More importantly, I swear that junior defensive back Michael Jackson can actually ‘Moonwalk’ like his globally-beloved namesake and is going to be a flat-out star at the next level. Make no mistake about it. Right now, Miami looks like a ‘smart’ pick for any college football bettor.

The Longshot

  • Wisconsin Badgers
  • Current record: 10-0
  • College Football Championship Odds: 14/1
Despite their perfect 10-0 record, Wisconsin is ranked fifth in the AP and CFP polls. Still, I think the Badgers have what it takes to beat any team in the country, including both the favorite and ‘smart’ pick previously mentioned here. Wisconsin is ranked 24th in scoring (36.3 PPG) and first in total defense (247.6 YPG), seventh against the pass (166.1 YPG), first against the run (81.5 YPG) and third in points allowed (13.4 PPG). Quarterback Alex Hornibrook has blossomed this season and running back Jonathan Taylor (1,525 yds, 12 TDs) is undeniably a next level NFL performer in what has been a long line of elite running backs that Wisconsin has produced. Everyone is dismissing Wisconsin because of their lack of quality opponents, but they just pounded an Iowa team 38-14 that laid a 55-24 smackdown on an Ohio State team that the poll voters still seem to be enamored with despite the fact that they’ve suffered two losses this season. If the Badgers run the table and win the Big Ten championship, I don’t believe there’s any way they can be left out of the four-team College Football Playoff, which is why the Badgers are my top longshot selection to win it all this season!
