Week 12 College Football ATS Picks

Written by on November 15, 2016

The Utah Utes will look to take down the Oregon Ducks and improve their chances of reaching a New Year’s Day bowl game while the high-scoring Texas Tech Red Raiders look to move closer to becoming bowl eligible by getting the road upset against Iowa State. Last but not least, the Michigan Wolverines will look to shake get back in the win column and cover the spread as nearly four-touchdown favorites against lowly Indiana. Now, let’s find out which teams are offering the most value in their respective Week 12 matchups.

Here’s A Closer Look At The Week 12 College Football ATS Picks

Oregon at No. 11 Utah

When: 2:00 PM ET, Saturday, November 19, 2016 Where: Rice-Eccles Stadium, Salt Lake City, Utah TV: Pac-12 Network Odds: Utah -12 Analysis: 11th-ranked Utah Utes (8-2 SU, 6-4 ATS) got back in the win column one week after falling to Washington by pounding Arizona State unmercifully in its 49-26 blowout on Saturday. While Oregon (3-7 SU, 1-8-1 ATS) lost its second straight game by getting blown out of the water by Stanford in its 52-27 loss on this past weekend. While the Ducks have a six-point scoring edge offensively, Oregon is also allowing a whopping 23.5 points per game more than their Pac-12 rivals in this affair and simply haven’t been able to stop anyone. There’s a reason why a convincing 80 percent of the betting public like Utah to get it done and it’s because right now, they’re far superior to the defenseless Oregon Ducks. Oregon is 1-10-1 ATS in its last 12 games while Utah has gone 4-1 ATS in its last 5 games. The Utes cover with room to spare! Pick: Utah -12 Points

Texas Tech at Iowa State

When: 3:30 PM ET, Saturday, November 19, 2016 Where: Jack Trice Stadium, Ames, Iowa TV: FS1 Odds: Iowa State -3.5 Analysis: I have no idea why the Iowa State Cyclones are favored to beat the Texas Tech Red Raiders, but I’m thinking the outcome of this matchup is a virtual lock – and apparently 75 percent of the betting public agrees. Iowa State (2-8 SU, 6-4 ATS) beat Kansas 31-24 this past weekend to snap a uninspiring losing streak while Texas Tech (4-6 SU, 7-3 ATS) ended up on the wrong end of a heartbreaking 45-44 loss to Oklahoma State although the Cyclones covered the spread just as I predicted. Texas Tech is ranked fifth in scoring at 46.0 points per behind underrated quarterback Pat Mahomes II while Iowa State allows (31.7 pp) seven points per game more than they average (24.7 ppg). Both teams in this matchup have gone 6-2 ATS over their last eight games, but Texas Tech is also 4-2 ATS in their last six road dates against the Cyclones. The Red Raiders win and cover the spread with room to spare! Pick: Texas Tech +3.5 Points

Indiana at No. 4 Michigan

When: 3:30 PM ET, Saturday, November 19, 2016 Where: Michigan Stadium, Ann Arbor, Michigan TV: ESPN Odds: Michigan -25.5 Analysis: Fourth-ranked Michigan (9-1 SU, 5-5 ATS) suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday by falling to Iowa 14-13 in an absolute thriller while Indiana (5-5 SU, 4-6 ATS) fell to red-hot Penn State 45-31 to snap its modest two-game winning streak. After losing their shot at an undefeated season, I’ve got to believe that Michigan is going to come out extremely focused for this Big Ten battle, but for me, the 25.5-point spread is a bit too high for the Wolverines to cover, even against a clearly inferior opponent. Michigan has won 10 straight over Indiana, but you have to go all the way back to 2000 to find a Wolverines win over the Hoosiers that came by more than the spread in this contest. Michigan is just 2-4 ATS over its last six games and will narrowly fail to cover the high college football betting line in this one. Pick: Indiana +25.5 Points
