Thanksgiving week is always very special for the college football fans in the state of Alabama. Families get together to celebrate Thanksgiving, but there could also be some families who have a few differences during the week because of their college football allegiances. It’s Iron Bowl week, and the big game is always the talk of the state of Alabama during Thanksgiving week. It’s Auburn against Alabama at Jordan Hare Stadium. The Alabama Crimson Tide are in the thick of the playoff race, while the 6-5 Auburn Tigers will make a bowl game, but are playing to spoil the season for the Tide. It’s time to take a closer look at both Alabama and Auburn so you can get ready to make your bets against their NCAAF Betting Odds.
College Football Betting Preview for #2 Alabama Crimson Tide at Auburn
Alabama vs Auburn | A Closer Look
This will be the 86th Iron Bowl. Alabama has 47 wins, while Auburn has been victorious 37 times. These two teams also played to one tie. There is a lot of history surrounding this particular series. The most recent memorable moment was the “Kick Six” game in which Alabama tried for a game-winning field goal, but when the kick fell short, it was returned by Auburn for a game-winning touchdown.
This will be Auburn head coach Bryan Harsin’s first taste of the Iron Bowl. He hasn’t had a great first season at the helm of the Tigers, but there is hope for the future. The Tigers are currently on a three-game losing streak after losing Saturday night to the rebuilding South Carolina Gamecocks. Auburn quarterback Bo Nix is out with an injury and is out for the season. Backup TJ Finley, who was under center for the South Carolina game, will now get a crack at the Crimson Tide.
While Alabama only has one loss on the season, a hard-fought game with Texas A&M, they have struggled in their last two SEC games. They struggled to hold off LSU in Baton Rouge, and despite a valiant effort by the Arkansas Razorback, Alabama survived and earned a victory. Bryce Young has had a tremendous season, and is one of the top candidates for the Heisman Trophy. With a great arsenal of weapons at his disposal, Young and the Alabama offense has been able to become one of the top-scoring offenses in the country.
When you think of Alabama, you immediately think of a very strong defense. Nick Saban is known for being one of the top defensive minds in the game, but this year’s Crimson Tide defense hasn’t been the dominating unit that it has been in the past. The secondary has been the weak link for the defensive unit, as they have given up a lot of passing yards this season. Fortunately for Saban’s squad, they do know how to stop the run, and they can pressure the quarterback, so that makes a huge difference.
While the Iron Bowl has been very competitive over the last few seasons, we don’t see that happening this year. The Crimson Tide is favored by 19 points, and they know that this is a huge game in the race for one of the four coveted playoff sports. Auburn hasn’t played well recently, and Alabama knows that it needs to play well to impress the College Football Playoff Committee. Alabama wins this one 42-20, covering the spread in the process.
