Week 14 College Football: Oklahoma State Vs Oklahoma

Written by on November 29, 2016

The regular season is now essentially over in college football, which means this weekend will see several conference championship games on the schedule. The Big 12 does not have an official championship game on the books, although that will change starting in the 2017 season. That said, we have a match-up this weekend that is for all intents and purposes a championship game, as the winner of the game between the Oklahoma State Cowboys and the Oklahoma Sooners will decide who wins the conference. This should be a fun one to watch, as both teams are coming into this game on rather lengthy winning streaks. The Sooners are on an 8-game roll, while their in-state rivals have won 7 games on the trot. You would think that with these streaks alive and well that the bookies would have this down as a tight one, but they have the Sooners coming in as an 11.5-point favorite. Can the Cowboys head into Norman and come away with the big upset?

A Closer Look At The Week 14 College Football Predictions: Cowboys Vs Sooners

When: Saturday, December 3 at 12 PM EST Where: Memorial Stadium, Norman TV: FOX Live Stream: FOX Sports GO NCAAF Odds: TBA

Why bet on the Oklahoma State Cowboys

A lot of teams may have shut up shop after losing 2 games out of 3 to lesser opposition in the early part of the season, but the fact that the Cowboys turned that into a 7-game winning streak to close things out tells you a lot about the character of this group. They have had a few close ones to contend with in that run, but have used a brilliantly balanced offense to find ways to win in games that they probably should have lost. The Oklahoma State Cowboys were blown out in this meeting last season, but will remember that they lost by just 3 points the last time they were in Norman. Oklahoma State are 3-1 ATS as an underdog this season.

Why bet on the Oklahoma Sooners

The Sooners are another team that have used superior offense to win games this season, but they also have a defense that let them down badly in the games that they lost to Houston and Ohio State. This game may not be as big or have the playoff implications of those other two, but it does raise the question as to whether this team can rise up and play a complete game on the big stage. The Sooners defense does do a good job of winning the turnover battle, but may have a tougher time this weekend against an offense that has been stingy with the turnovers. The Sooners are just 5-5 ATS as a favorite this season, going 3-2 ATS in home games.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

This should be a really fin game to watch, and I think it’s fair to say that we can expect some offensive fireworks The Sooner, in my opinion, are just a little more talented, which should get them the win, although I do like the Cowboys to cover.
