NCAA Football Week 3 Must Bet Games – 2018 Season

Written by on July 26, 2018

The college football playoffs have proven to be a great addition to the sport, if for no other reason than it now forced the bigger schools to take on better teams in an effort to really impress the playoff committee. Every week of the college football regular season has a handful of games that are considered must watch and must bet, and NCAA Football Week 3 is certainly no different. The highlight of this week is a rematch of one of the greatest National Championship games ever played, and while we probably can’t expect the drama that we saw back in 2005, it is still the match-up that should be the highlight of the week.

NCAA Football Week 3 Must Bet Games – 2018 Season

USC Trojans vs Texas Longhorns

The meeting between these two for the National Championship in 2005 will be replayed for eternity, but let’s not forget that they also delivered a show when they hooked up last season. That one went to OT, with USC eventually coming out on top 27-24. The Trojans are going to be looking at life without Sam Darnold at QB after he was drafted by the New York Jets, but USC should still have a solid team this season. Tom Herman took over as coach of Texas last year and delivered the first winning season for the program in 4 years. I expect Texas to be a little better this season, so we should be in for a good one here.

Ohio State Buckeyes vs TCU Horned Frogs

Those of you who like your college football with a lot of scoring should probably be tuning into this one. The Buckeyes enter the season as the defending Big 10 champions, but they are also sure to be coming in with a bit of a chip on their shoulder after being snubbed by the playoff committee last year. The Horned Frogs are coming off yet another 11-win season in 2017, including a win over Stanford in the Alamo Bowl. This is a team that is always fun to watch given that they love to throw the football all over the field. If they can take this one, the sky may be the limit for the horned frogs.

LSU Tigers vs Auburn Tigers

The SEC West has been the domain of the Nick Saban era in Alabama, but the Auburn Tigers sprung the upset last year before losing to the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship Game. That loss cost them a playoff spot, so they will be back this season feeling as though they have something to prove. LSU is one of the favorites for NCAA Football Week 3. While Auburn may be the main competition for Alabama in the West, it would not be a good idea to count out LSU. Always defensively sound, the Tigers can compete with the best, and have in fact beat Auburn in 7 of their last 10 meetings.

Boise State Broncos vs Oklahoma State Cowboys

Boise State has had double-digit wins in 3 of their last 4 seasons, as well as 3 bowl game wins in that same stretch. Given that they play in the less sexy Mountain West Conference, their chances of ever making the playoffs seem slim, but they can certainly have a say in who goes and who doesn’t. The Oklahoma State Cowboys were in that hunt for a large portion of the 2017 season and will once again be an offensive force with an eye on the postseason this year. This is another game where we can expect a lot of offense.
