NCAA Football Week 4 Against the Spread Picks
It’s time to take a look at the College Football betting Week 4 against the spread picks. Football handicappers should only consider playing the games below against the spread. The three games we highlight to bet ATS are: Iowa at Pittsburgh, Rutgers at Navy and South Carolina at Vanderbilt.
Taking A Closer Look at the Best NCAA Football Week 4 Against the Spread Picks
- Pittsburgh Panthers -6.5
- Navy Midshipmen -6
- South Carolina Gamecocks -21.5
Iowa Hawkeyes at Pittsburgh Panthers
When: Sept. 20, 12:00 pm ET
Betting Line: Pittsburgh -6.5
Analysis: Iowa is 2 and 1 straight-up but 0 and 3 against the spread this season. The Hawkeye’s defense has been atrocious. Not only that, but Iowa could only muster 17 points in a 17 to 20 loss against Iowa State in its last. Iowa State is considered one of the worst teams in the Big 12.
While the Hawkeyes have underperformed, the Panthers have been terrific so far in 2014. Pittsburgh is 2 and 1 against the spread so far this season. One of those games was a terrific 30 to 20 win on the road against Boston College, a team that upset the USC Trojans straight up as a 17 point dog in Week 3. The Panthers are 4 and 1 ATS in their last 5 versus a team with a winning record and 8 and 2 ATS in their last 10 games following an against the spread loss. They should roll over Iowa on Saturday.
Rutgers Scarlet Knights at Navy Midshipmen
When:Sept. 20, 3:30 pm ET
Betting Line:Navy -6
Analysis: These two teams are both 2 and 1 both straight up and against the spread. The difference to me is that Rutgers beat Washington State on the road straight up while Navy has beaten Temple and Texas State on the road straight up. Football bettors also have to like how Rutgers’ defense held Penn State to 13 total points in a 13 to 10 loss. Trends appear to favor Navy, but the Midshipmen are giving up 6 points to Rutgers in this and there are some positive trends for the Scarlet Knights.
Rutgers is 9 and 3 ATS in its last 12 versus Independents and 4 and 1 ATS in its last 5 games overall. Take the 6 points.
16 South Carolina Gamecocks at Vanderbilt Commodores
When: Sept. 20, 7:30 pm ET
Betting Line: South Carolina -21.5
Analysis: Things can change quickly in college football. Everybody wrote off South Carolina after their 28 to 52 opening night loss to SEC rival Texas A&M. Everybody had Georgia in the College Football Playoff after they put a trouncing onto Clemson in their Week 1 victory. Last week South Carolina beat Georgia 28 to 25 and all of a sudden the Gamecocks are once again a favorite to make it to the SEC Championship game. They should have an easy time of it against Vanderbilt this Saturday.
The Commodores beat Massachusetts 38 to 35 in their last game, but they’re 0 and 3 ATS so far this season. Not only that, but the defense is allowing 36.3 points per game and Vandy’s offense is only averaging 14.7 points per game. South Carolina should dominate the Commodores on Saturday.
Pick:South Carolina -21.5
