NCAA Football Week 5 Must Bet Games – 2018 Season

Written by on July 26, 2018

With the first month of the 2018 season in the books, we should have a good idea of who the national championship contenders will be when we roll into NCAA Football Week 5. The odds are already up for the season, but you can bet that those numbers may have changed dramatically by the time we reach this point, as it is almost guaranteed that at least one of the top teams will have stumbled in the early going. The season starts to get much tougher form this point forward, which may explain why there are not a ton of high-profile games on the schedule in Week 5. There are still some very good match-ups, though, so let’s take a closer look and be sure to check the latest NCAAF odds right before placing your betting ticket!

NCAA Football Week 5 Must Bet Games – 2018 Season

Ohio State Buckeyes vs Penn State Nittany Lions

Ask any neutral fan college football fan what game they will be tuning into in Week 5 of the season and this will be the one that gets the majority of the votes. This match-up has delivered a couple of close games over the last two seasons, with those meetings evenly split. It was the 2017 version of this game that was truly outstanding, though, with the Buckeyes taking last year’s game 39-38. If we get a game half as good as that one, then we are in for a real treat here. Yes, this is still early in the season, but the winner of this one gets a definite edge in the Big 10 East Division.

Stanford Cardinal vs Notre Dame Fighting Irish

It’s always fun to see two good teams go head to head, and that is exactly what we are going to get in this one. Both teams are coming off good seasons, but the Irish will be looking to settle the score a little here, as they have lost 3 in a row to Stanford, as well as 7 of the last 9. The Irish will also be looking to avoid a big loss at home early in the season, like the one they had to the Georgia Bulldogs in 2017. The Cardinal are once again favorites in the PAC 12, but if they have any sort of playoff aspirations, then this is a win that they need.

Florida Gators vs Mississippi State Bulldogs

While certainly not the most glamorous match-up that we will see in the SEC this season, this is a game that is a must watch and wager for reasons other than the game itself. The big storyline here sees Florida head coach Dan Mullen make his first trip back to Mississippi State to face the team that he formerly coached for 9 seasons before jumping ship at the end of the 2017 season. The Florida Gators will be favorites in NCAA Football Week 5. It also helps that these two teams haven’t met since 2010, which delivers a little air of the unexpected here. Like we said earlier, it’s slim pickings this week ahead of what looks to be a glorious Week 6.

USC Trojans vs Arizona Wildcats

The USC Trojans ran away with the PAC 12 South Division last season, with the Arizona Wildcats finishing a distant 3rd. Now that Sam Darnold has moved on to the NFL, the other teams in the South might just believe that they have an opportunity to close the gap. In order for that to happen, though, those teams need to take down the Trojans when they get the opportunity, something that Arizona has only been able to do twice in their last 16 meetings with USC. Could we be in for a surprise result here?
