West Virginia vs Baylor 2019 College Football Week 10 Odds & Prediction

Written by on October 30, 2019

Week 10 of the college football season is a bit of a strange one in that a lot of the top teams are idle this weekend. That is not to say that there aren’t some big games on tap, as there certainly are, with the Georgia Bulldogs game against the Florida Gators arguably the most important of the bunch. The ways things are playing out, we are potentially looking at a number of 1-loss team vying for a spot or two in the top 4, so the margin for error for a lot of teams is essentially dropping down to zero with just a few weeks remaining in the regular season.

One team that I still winless, albeit sitting outside the top 10, is the Baylor Bears. They have been very quietly going about their business and may well be able to break into the top 10 if they can come up with the win at home to the West Virginia Mountaineers. This one actually goes off a little earlier than usual, with these non-conference foes hooking up on Thursday night. The Bears are in as an 18-point favorite, with the point total set at 55 ½.

Why bet on the West Virginia Mountaineers?

This was always going to be a difficult season of transition for the West Virginia Mountaineers after seeing QB Will Grier head to the draft and longtime head coach Dana Holgorsen head off to Houston for a new coaching challenge. Things have pretty much gone as expected for the Mountaineers, who head into Thursday night with a 3-4 record on the season.

Overall, the Mountaineers are now just 3-7 SU in their last 10 games, although it should be noted that they have won 4 of their last 5 meetings against Baylor, although Will Grier was under center for the majority of those. They are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games, not to mention just 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games played in the month of October.

Why bet on the Baylor Bears?

Baylor set the tone for the coming season by winning their last 3 games of the season last year. That has carried over, with the Bears currently sitting at 7-0 on the season, which included being a perfect 4-0 in conference play. They did have a bit of a scare a couple of weeks ago when needing double OT to take care of Texas Tech, but they were totally dominant in their last game, which was a 42-27 win over the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

West Virginia vs Baylor is not going to be a close one.

Baylor have proven to be particularly tough to take down in their own building, winning 7 of their last 8 games at home. The Bears are 8-4 ATS in their last 12 games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games versus teams from the Big 12.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

You can certainly argue that Baylor has had a bit of an easy schedule to this point in the season, but they are still very worthy of their current record. I think that they extend their winning streak with another comfortable win over West Virginia on Thursday night.

Score: West Virginia Mountaineers 17 – Baylor Bears 42
