NCAAF Win Totals Over Picks for the 2021 Season

NCAAF Win Totals Over Picks for the 2021 Season

Every team in college football comes into the season with some level of expectation placed squarely on their shoulders. For the bigger teams, it’s all about making a run at the National Championship, while others are looking to improve on the previous season or even just pick up a few wins. All of that comes into play when the bookies release the win totals for every team prior to the start of the season. Those win totals are on the board, and while the bookies are usually incredibly accurate, there are always a few totals that stand out as potentially good bets. In a different article, we talked about the best UNDER picks for this season, so now we are going to turn our attention to teams that might well go OVER the win total. Let’s jump right into action so you plan your bets against the NCAAF Regular Season Wins Odds.

NCAAF – Sure College Football Win Totals Over Picks

Texas Longhorns (8)

All the news around the Texas Longhorns campus this offseason has been about their upcoming move to the SEC, which will happen for the 2025 season. For now, this team is focusing on the season ahead of them and getting OVER that 8-win total. The Longhorns went 7-3 last year in a shortened season, which included 5 conference wins. Their non-conference schedule looks more than manageable this season, so you really do have to like their chances of getting those 8 wins and potentially getting to 9, with 10 probably being the high bar.

SMU Mustangs (6 ½)

This may well be the best bet on the board right now, as I am a little surprised to see a team that went 7-3 last season with such a low total. Yes, they lost their starting QB to the draft, but they have a trio of guys who could easily step in and take the starting role. This is a team that is going to be fun to watch when the offense is on the field, and while they are a little leaky on the offensive side of things, I still think that they are a very good bet for the OVER. The SMU Mustangs were very active in the transfer portal and could well be one of the teams to beat in the AAC.

Illinois Fighting Illini (3 ½)

This is another total that looks to be a bit of a bargain, especially when you consider that the Illini have a very good coach taking over the reins this season. Bret Bielima had some real success in the Big Ten during his time with Wisconsin, while also taking Arkansas to a trio of bowl games in his time there. He is going to need time to build the team he wants, but he does have a few pieces that he can work with this season. This will be the start of a rebuild, but I think Illinois gets OVER that 3 ½ win mark rather comfortably.

Western Kentucky Hilltoppers (5 ½)

One of the issues that the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers faced last season was an offense that was borderline anemic at times. Despite that obstacle, they still managed to grind out 5 wins, including 3 of their last 4 to close out the regular season. They brought in a new offensive coordinator, who brought his QB with him, so expect to see much better things out of the WKU offense this season, which should be enough to get them over that 5 ½ win total.
