NFL Week 13 Over/Under Picks

2016 NFL Week 1 Miami at Seattle Expert Predictions

Written by on August 5, 2016

Heading into a new football season, the goal of every team, except of course the defending champions, is to be better than they were the previous year. The draft is done, the offseason moves have been made, and all that’s left now is to play the games to see of those changes will have a positive or negative effect. For a team like the Miami Dolphins, it was an offseason of wholesale changes, including getting a new head coach in place. The Seattle Seahawks already have a solid group of players, especially on defense, but they had thee near impossible task of trying to find a replacement for the now retired RB Marshawn Lynch. Both of these teams will get to show off their shiny new toys in Week 1, and it’s fair to say that the Seahawks are going to be dominating the betting lines for this one. You never know what might happen in the NFL, though, and that is why we play the games every Sunday. Look at the overall records between these two teams and you see why a surprise might be in the cards.

Why bet on the Miami Dolphins

I think it’s pretty safe to say that he Miami Dolphins are going to be better than they were last year, assuming of course that all of the new pieces can quickly gel. There is a whole new system to be learned with a new head coach at the helm, and Ryan Tannehill has to bounce back after having a season that saw his take a little backwards step in his QB progression. He is going to have a lot of young talented receivers to throw to, but they are all still a little raw. If they can be as good as they look on paper, this could be an exciting team to watch.

Why bet on the Seattle Seahawks

The biggest question mark with the Seahawks heading into the new season is how they are going to look at the running back position. They haven’t picked up a true replacement for Lynch, and will have a lot of untested talent in the backfield. The good news, though, is that they still have Russell Wilson at QB, and he has a very solid group of receivers to throw to. They also still have the Legion of Boom running the defense, so they should be good on that side of the ball. Let’s not forget that they also have one of the loudest fan bases in the NFL, making CenturyLink Field a tough place for any team to go and get a win.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I touched on this a little at the start of this piece, and it may come as a surprise to learn that the Dolphins have taken down the Seahawks in 5 of their last 6 meetings, dating all the way back to 2000. Don’t see them improving that record in Week 1.
