2016 NFL Week 9 Winners Against the Spread

Written by on July 8, 2016

It’s all about early online NFL picks and odds predictions for the fast-approaching National Football League season. Ready yourself for 2016 NFL betting with the following  NFL odds analysis on potential winners against the spread for Week 9 of the coming 2016 season.

2016 NFL Week 9 Winners Against the Spread

Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings (-6.5)

Week 9 NFL ATS Pick: Vikings (-6.5) After sweeping the Vikings in the 2014 season, the Lions received a taste of their own medicine in 2015 when they got swept by Minnesota in their two meetings. As things stand, it thus remains to be seen which team will come out on top when these two divisional rivals meet in 2016. On one hand, I think that Detroit will be playing better football than it did last season, which should see them give a strong show in this game. On the other hand, the Minnesota Vikings showed a lot of maturity and discipline last season, and they could actually be a better unit if the Teddy Bridgewater-led offense improves as is largely expected by most NFL betting pundits. Personally, though, I am leaning more on Minnesota and the points, largely because the team has made the TCF Bank Stadium a fortress in recent times and beating Detroit by an average of 9.5 points per game in their two meetings last season is proof enough that they know how to handle Mathew Stafford and Co.

Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants (-3)

Week 9 NFL ATS Pick: Giants (-3) How the Giants are favored by just three points in this game is a big mystery to me. The Eagles are utterly disarrayed at QB while the Giants have a dependable former Super Bowl winner in Eli Manning at quarterback. Historically-speaking, the Eagles own the edge in their recent meetings, but we all saw how Philly played pathetically in 2015. Against a New York team that played well enough for the most part of the season and largely failed to make the .500 mark because of poor defense, a defense that has actually been improved greatly in the offseason, the Giants should easily be your preferred pick for both SU and ATS in this clash.

Carolina Panthers (-3.5) at Los Angeles Rams

Week 9 NFL ATS Pick: Panthers (-3.5) It’s not just that the Panthers have lost only one of their last six games against Los Angeles, the big reason for picking Carolina in this game is that Cam Newton is a really solid quarterback—as was proven by his incredible MVP-winning season in 2015—and the Carolina defense is way better than that of the Rams. So, although Los Angeles made a number of solid trades in the offseason and moving into a new city may breathe a new lease of life into the team, this game should be easily won by the superior Panthers.

Tennessee Titans at San Diego Chargers (-4.5)

Week 9 NFL ATS Pick: Chargers (-4.5) With 9 San Diego wins in their last 10 overall meetings against Tennessee and no home losses whatsoever to the Titans since 1990, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out the dominance the Chargers have had over Tennessee. Add to the experience and depth possessed by the Philip Rivers-led San Diego team, beating the young Marcus Mariota-led team and covering the cheap 4.5-point spread shouldn’t be an issue for the Chargers in this Week 9 fixture.
