NFL Betting Projections for Potential AFC Conference Winners

Written by on December 14, 2018

With NFL Week 15, and a full Week 16 and Week 17 yet to be played, the American Football Conference remains in flux. The Kansas City Chiefs could have locked down the AFC West Division by beating the rival L.A. Chargers on Thursday night. They didn’t.

That doesn’t mean the Chiefs miss out on winning the division, though. Check out AFC Playoffs Seeding Projections as well as full season NFL betting projections.

NFL Betting Projections for Potential AFC Conference Winners

AFC Playoff Seedings Predictions

  1. New England Patriots (10-4)

Currently 8-5 against the spread, the Patriots have a huge shot of winning out and going 3-0 ATS while doing so. New England should beat Pittsburgh and cover in Week 15. Then, they’ll dominate both Buffalo and the Jets at home in Week 16 and Week 17. That’s a 12-4 record and an 11-5 ATS record.

Full Season ATS Prediction: 11-5
  1. L.A. Chargers (11-3)

The prediction here is that both the Chargers and Chiefs lose in Week 16. But, the Chargers end up winning the AFC West Division and gain the second seed by virtue of their victory and cover against the Denver Broncos on the road in Week 17. As far as Week 16 is concerned, Baltimore’s got the defense that should frustrate the heck out of the Bolts. So, 1 win against the spread and 1 loss against the spread in their final 2 games.

Full Season ATS Prediction:  9-7
  1. Indianapolis Colts (7-6)

Things are setting up nicely for the Colts to wrest away the AFC South Division from the Houston Texans. Indianapolis battles Dallas and the Giants at home before taking on the Tennessee Titans on the road in Week 16. Indy should run the table and finish at 10-6. They’ll also run the table against the spread to go 9-6-1

Full Season ATS Prediction:  9-6-1
  1. Baltimore Ravens (7-6)

The Ravens are just better than the Pittsburgh Steelers right now. Pittsburgh is 7-5-1, but must beat the Patriots, are at New Orleans in Week 16, and battle Cincinnati home. The Ravens at 7-6 take on Tampa Bay at home, are at the Chargers, and battle Cleveland at home. Baltimore runs the table, finishes 10-6 SU and 10-6 ATS.

Full Season ATS Prediction:  10-6
  1. Kansas City Chiefs (11-3)

The Chiefs dropped their Thursday night Week 15 battle with the rival L.A. Chargers 29-28. That’s a big loss because the effects should carry over to their game against Seattle Seahawks in Week 16. They’ll lose again to drop their overall record to 11-4. They should beat the Raiders at home in Week 17, but there’s no guarantee that happens. Chiefs could go 0-2 in their final 2 games both SU and ATS, which is why they stumble into the playoffs at 11-5 SU and 8-7-1 against the spread.

Full Season ATS Prediction: 8-7-1
  1. Houston Texans (9-4)

Although the Texans have a great 9-4 record heading into their Week 15 battle with the Jets, there’s a chance the Texans lose all 3 games. They should win at least one, taking their record to 10-6. However, the Colts own all the tiebreakers, meaning the Texans become the 6th seed because KC’s the 5th seed with an 11-5 record. That’s exactly what happens. Houston also loses 3 straight against the spread.

Full Season ATS Prediction: 6-10
